A rather simple question to ask? X48 Chipset supports DDR3 Dual Channel Memory. Is X58 Tripple Channel only? Or is it backwards compatible Dual and Tripple Channel. If it's only Tri Channel it's not a problem it just means my budget has increased by £200.00+ depending on which one I go for 16000 or 16000+ I think I got that right.

It's a minor overhall MB, CPU ,CPU Cooler and memory.

Is only triple channel if you drop 3 or 6 sticks onto the system. If you only fit 2 sticks then will still run but will only run Dual Channel.

Thanks for all your input. Yep I thought so? I just wanted to be sure, i7 requires tripple memory whereas Duo Core requires Dual memory. Never mind I'll sell my 8GB of Corsair XMS3 DHX memory after upgrading. Any idea on how much I would get for 8GB of Cosair memory? :)
