I'm not sure about which is faster (i guess the 6800) but your 3dmark05 scores will be around 5500-600 with them at stock.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 6800GT better than standard X800 and X800XL is a bogged down version of X800?

The X800xl is between the Pro and the XT

6800gt is far better. has shader model 3.0 support too.

The x800xl actually performs very slightly better than the 6800gt in nearly every game, but yes doesn't offer shader 3.0 support.

These cards are probably the two closest matching cards from the two makers.
Pretty much on par in everything, 6800GT pulling away slightly in OpenGL games Like Doom, but the X800XL pulling away in games like Halflife2
(not sure if its still like that with numerous driver updates since then)

Clock for clock they match, same number of pipelines, and both the memclock and core clock are almost identical.

It really depends on what games you want to play

I had bought 2 6800GT;s that were both borked on arrival, one from Leadtek and one from XFX, both got RMA'd. I did manage some 3d amrk tests with them though (although I had hooge black lines everywhere :p). With the second RMA'd card i replaced it with an X800XL whicjh I've had for about 18 months and its been great. In 3d mark it beat both of the 6800GT by a few hundred points iirc.

looks like im going for the 6800gt ... as would be better to upgrade with it being SLi and stuff so when i feel it isnt up to the task just lob another in buy which that time should be cheaper and give me some more umpth for cheaper then buying a more expensive card if i got the x800xl

wise decision, 6800gt has more life left in it since it has shader model 3.0 support.

I had both until recently, out of the box they performed the same.

The 6800GT overclocked much further though, the x800xl barely budged :(

:o You never read do you, he said he wasn't bothered by extras, just power. And from what has been said so far, the x800xl would be better
