Xbox 360 - Streaming Network Content?

I currently have external HDDs attached to my Xbox 360 so I can play content, which the 360 does fine.

It would be nice to buy an Apple Airport Extreme and plug a USB HDD into that so that I can access it over the network, on my laptop, but will the 360 be able to play media from this?

I don't know much about the Airport, but if it acts like a normal media server, there is no reason the 360 won't see it. If it doesn't actually have a media sharing ability, then it's unlikely the 360 will be able to access the files.
