Well after having been out of the loop for quite a few years, I think it's about time I built my next pc.
my aged Athlon XP 2200+ / Asus AH3650 ( honest! ) rig is acting more like Powerpoint than anything else so time for a new build.
I've always prefered AMD over Intel, support the underdog, keep competition going sort of mentality. So with that in mind I started to look at
Motherboard - Asus Crosshair III Formula AMD 790FX

Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition

Everything else is perhaps liable to change, for the case I have an empty Thermaltake TsunamiDream 3000SWA which I bought years ago for a friend's build that didn't actually happen. Which although small by today's standards, I could junk the hard drive cage permantley due to some 5.25 hard drive mounting brackets that appear to have started breeding by themselves.
Of course, if this thing is far too small to fit anything today, then I was looking at the Coolermaster HAF 932 Case that'll fit most things i'd say
Looking at a max budget of £1.5k ( which should be easily enough to fit most things in )
*Dons flame retardant suit and chemicals for giving such a budget and not mentioning Intel in the proposed build*
