1990 Micra 1.0;

We both came into this world in the same month, irrelevant I guess but always felt it was kinda cool we were ageing at the exact same rate! Dad "bought" it for me, I was still learning to drive and was a couple of months from taking my test, and he pulls up in this boxy Micra, then proceeds to ask me for the £500.00 that it cost. I was pretty miffed at the time as I hadn't chose what I wanted and got ripped by mates who were in Ibiza's and such (obviously they were much cooler than me), but in retrospect it's the only car I've ever owned where I sold it for the same value I bought it for. And it didn't let me down once.

2008 Aygo 1.0;

A mistake, but amazing economy. Peanuts to buy, run, insure etc.

2010 Yaris 1.33;

An even bigger mistake, an awful engine and car combo.

2011 Juke Dig-T 1.6;

Not a bad car, but horrendous economy for the performance on offer. 30mpg and 0-62 in 8s, meh.

2001 3 series 3.0;

One my favourite cars ever, was the SE spec but had all of the toys, Xenons, HK, heated and electrically adjustable seats, sunroof, black leather, silver colour and a manual box. Should never have sold it but hey ho, we all make mistakes. Guy I sold it to wrote it off a few months later.

2012 RS Clio 200;

Bought this on a whim when still owning the 330i. Absolutely the most fun car I've owned, which is great on roundabouts. For the rest of the time, an actual pain in the backside. Recaro seats and a screamer of an engine was the only reason I kept it so long. So long, being, 12 months. Thankfully I lost very little in the ownership.

2004 330Ci 3 series 3.0;

After 'done goofing' on the Clio purchase I knew I had to get back into an E46, so I went with the coupe version this time. I took the dealers word on it that the car had Xenons but it didn't, and I also took the dealers word on it that the service history was complete, but it wasn't. Both lessons learned the hard way, nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. Having said that the car was beautiful and drove even better than the 330i, not sure whether that was due to the coupe shape or the difference in Sport suspension or SE. Nothing to do with the pap tyres on the 330i :p

Eventually got the service history sorted by way of buying a new service book from BMW and sending it round all of the dealers where it was serviced, fortunately it was done at a main dealer every time, so it did technically have FBMWSH but a) the garage I bought it from (non BMW main dealer) didn't know that, and b) the actual service book was incomplete). Anyway, two years of ownership and a short stint in an LCI F31, I fancied something a little newer...

2013 M135i 1 series 3.0;

Brutally quick, decent economy, decent handling, best gearbox and engine combo I've experienced! Some niggles here and there but nothing too drastic. Not very exciting in some ways, and I keep flitting between the notion that, that's exactly why it's a brilliant everyday motor, and exactly why I don't want it. As soon as I buy something more hardcore, like an RS Clio, I'll miss it. Because I never learn :p

Looking back it's been quite a varied mix of cars over the years and the current Leaf is probably the biggest curveball of them all! I'm saving for a house deposit at the moment though and only drive a 5 mile round trip to work so it makes a lot of sense. It's also a really nice car to drive and has left a couple of petrolhead mates quite surprised that they've got out the car liking it!

Passed my test in 2005, cars as follows:

2006-2011: 04 MG-TF 135. Green with a tan hood and sports exhaust. Delightfully British, I broke down at every service station on the M40 in it and more. Oil pump failed on the motorway and it needed a new engine. Something great about easing around in a little British sports car in my early twenties though! Would buy it back if I won the lottery (would need it to fund the endless repairs!).

2011-2017: 07 Honda S2000. Fully deserves the hype, amazing handling, incredible engine and gearbox and reliable. Wouldn't have sold it if I had a double garage. Just doesn't scratch the itch of...

2017-present: 06 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S Convertible. The dream car. Still can't quite believe it's sitting in my garage! The engine is in a different league to my previous motors and the noise with the sports exhaust is brilliant! The way it covers ground and handles is truly remarkable. Hopefully a long term keeper. Only gripe is that the gearbox on the S2000 is better even with a short shift kit!

TLDR: I'm a hairdresser.

In my 27 years of driving I've actually not had that many cars.

In the order I've owned them:

1984 Ford Escort 1.3L
1986 Fiat Uno 0.9L (emergency wheels!)
1990 Ford Escort Eclipse 1.3L
1996 Vauxhall Frontera 2.0L
1996 Ford Mondeo Ghia 2.0TD
1990 Lotus Esprit SE 2.2L
1996 Vauxhall Frontera 2.0L (skip on wheels)
2005 BMW 320cd
2012 BMW 640d

My current cars are the ones in bold above.

How boring! Hopefully I'll stop doing so many miles and get something interesting.

2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI - First Car, wish I hadnt got it, the car seemed to have no road presence and was affected by every bump and niggle in the road. Had it a year before I moved on, fortunately I lost no money at all practically as they were highly desirable (why!?!?!?!).

2012 BMW 320D - I loved this car a lot, great MPG, punchy for a 2 litre diesel and I had it in Estoril Blue.... what a colour.

2014 BMW M235i (Current Car) - Not much to say about this car, its just fantastic.... quick, frugal and comfortable. Great car to drive daily and when you get on the back roads makes you love that RWD combined with 320ish BHP.

Driving since 2004.

1994 Peugeot 306 1.9 DTurbo (Who didn't)
1996 Peugeot 306 1.9 DTurbo (Binned the first one...)
2000 Vauxhall Astra 1.8 SRi
2002 Toyota Corolla 1.8 VVTL-i T-Sport (Fantastic engine tbh, bargain hot hatch)
2007 BMW Z4 Coupe 3.0si (Think I'll regret selling this, but went from ~5k pa to ~15k pa and man maths my way into...)
2016 330e M-Sport (Plugin Hybrid)

The 330e is exceptional really, brilliant at everything apart from being a cool 2 seater. This drivetrain in a 2 seat coupe would be a dream (until full electric anyway).

Driving since 2011, so nothing special.

1999 Peugeot 306 HDI Dturbo (Loved it. Reliable, decent to drive. Not the 1000BHP 1.9TD though, just 90BHP ;) )
2004 BMW 330d Sport (Really like it... most of the time. Niggles make me want to get rid of it every so often though)

I have itch to move the BMW on at the moment, but it's not really viable with other things going on. Two front tyres, two front wings and another brake caliper to buy and hopefully it'll be OK for another year.

My shockingly short list goes:

Fiesta MK6 1.4 (nearly 2 years ownership)

Possibly R53 Cooper S next but undecided
