Close between FF7 (PS1) and Chrono Trigger (SNES). Only 2 OST that I know so well that with any song I know exactly which part its from (played both them to death over multiple formats)
I find OST's inferior to the music in game. They often are not the same and also too short. Sometimes they dodnt include all tracks either.
I have played many games with music I like usually JRPG's.
Star Ocean 4
FF13 1,2,3
FF10
FF9 (not played yet but heard a lot of the music)
Tales of Vesperia
Tales of Zesteria
Eternal Sonatra
FF7 Remake
Blue Dragon
Lost Oddysey
Non Western
Fable1
Division 2
C&C Tiberium Dawn
Starcraft 1
Starcraft 2
Dragon Age Origins
The most polished, well produced and inspired soundtrack is probably Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The original is iconic, but the Remake is just on another level. Can't wait to see what more they do with it.
Other awesome mentions:
Command & Conquer
Sonic the Hedgehog
Wonder Boy 3: A Dragon's Trap
Final Fantasy's (From 6 through to 15 are all incredible)
Shadows Hearts 1 + 2
Xenogears
Chrono Trigger + Cross
Xenosaga 1
Lost Odyssey
Breath of Fire 3 + 4
