I don't have a favourite but there was an xfactor winner last year called "leona lewis". I listened to her album and her voice is truely amazing. That would be atleast my top 5 if anything. Other than that I dont have a top album list because there are so many good ones available.

Been a slow year it seems looking at my album collection.

Highlights have been:-

Hard-Fi - Once Upon a Time in the West (big grower for me)
Calvin Harris - I Created Disco (some disappointing tracks though)
Just Jack - Overtones
Mark Ronson - Versions
Ian Brown - The World is Yours

I keep it to a top 3. I thought it was a good year for music...

1. Idealism by Digitalism
Flipping amazing from start to finish. If it doesn't get you in the party mood then nothing will. Jupiter Room is probably the stand-out for anyone wanting to sample Digitalism's music.

2. I'll Sleep When You're Dead by El-P
Commerical hip-hop sucks. Indie hip-hop like El-P does not. Great album with some surprising guest appearances (such as Mars Volta).

3. Untrue by Burial
At first I didn't really know to make of it, but it's a record that certainly grows on you.

And for gigs:

1. The Roots at Somerset House
Gigs at Somerset House are always great. They're one-off gigs so the artists usually don't have an album to promote. The Roots get bonus points for shoe horning in a sousaphone.

2. Maximo Park at The Forum
Maximo Park are fantastic live. Well worth seeing just for the stupid poses the lead singer pulls.

3. A Silver Mt. Zion at Scala
Worth seeing live just for their audience interaction. "We'll be back next year, if London is still here."

Can't really name an best album off the top of my head.

I'll join Tunney and do gigs though.

The Toasters - Nottingham Junction 7 - Utterly incredible music, incredible interaction and all round amazing.

Zebrahead - Leeds Cockpit - Just for the support acts and the fact the venue is pretty amazing.

Jesse James - Exeter Cavern Club - Last ever UK gig by them :( sorely missed.

I keep banging on about it, but then someone has to!

Rick Witter & The Dukes - The Year of the Rat.

It's almost a cliché to say it but it's such a shame when you look at some of the hip bands that make it into the charts and bands like this remain virtually unheard of, with far more impressive songs.
