Hi,

Got a weird problem, I suspect the motherboard is done, but wondering if anyone has any last things to try. System does not power on, no leds on the motherboard at all - seems like a dead PSU. Except:

* Power supply turns on when shorted using a paper clip
* After dragging the machine down from the loft to figure it out, it turned on first time, rebooted 4-5 times etc over 48 hours
* I shutdown the server this morning and for the first time, unplugged it, now it won't turn on again!

I've tried CMOS reset, replaces the battery, replaced the power supply (just in case), removed it from the case and unplugged everything but CPU and memory, no dice.

Any ideas of last things to try?

It's a Supermicro X10

Hmm, so I jumped the power supply with it plugged into the motherboard (probably a terrible idea, but what have I got to loose!) and the board shows signs of life, leds are on, cpu fan spins etc.

No POST beeps of any kind, which isn’t surprising
