Not Bad

Bought one of these (plus a VRM kit) to replace the frankly pap cooler on my 6950. Fitting took the better part of two hours and I'm quite good at this! If you're not confident and can't get someone to fit it for you, give it a miss. Also, make sure you know where you're going to put the 4-pin, because it won't plug into the 3-pin on your reference 6950.

Otherwise, this is a great cooler. It's NOT silent, but it is quiet enough to live with comfortably; the other fans in my system are Gentle Typhoon 1450s, so my standards are rather harsh! At full chat (2000 rpm) it cools as well as the stock cooler did @ 6000rpm.

If only it had instructions!

The function of the cooler is perfect. Ignore anyone who says its loud. Its silent and keeps my oc 680 down from 70-80c to 50 MAX.

BUT

The instructions dont include the 600 series cards which is REALLY frustrating as the know it works on it and say it on pack! Search the net and you find instructions so its all good.

fab cooler. no probs at all.

Very nice

Took my Furmark stock cooled 6870 temps from 90+ down to 65 and fixed the visual artifact glitches in some games. Curiously Furmark displayed no such problems, just games.

I should also mention that the lower temps are recorded with the Icy Vision fans running off a Fanmate 2. The default is 2000 RPM and they're impressively louder than the old stock cooler doing it's best to prevent the the card melting during the Furmark tortures test. With the fan controller set at minimum they they're now inaudible and keep the temps well under control in both idle (37-41 degrees) and normal gaming conditions (56 degrees).

Fitting is easy enough, just don't over tighten the cooler to the board, it's difficult to judge how much pressure is needed.

Good Performance/Fiddly To Fit

Bought for my Asus GTX480.

Performance is a lot better than stock. Weight is about the same. Its almost silent now even on full load not very noisy. You can also overclock with this if you want to (not that a GTX480 needs it but......)

Fitting is very fiddly. Took me 2.5 hours (and I have been doing this sort of upgrade for well over 10 years!). This is due to the tiny little screws included & time it takes to remove your stock GTX480 fan, cooler & heatshield). Does not include all the required parts either mine was short of 2 smaller VRM heatsinks so I had to use one of the extra heatsinks included of another shape & much bigger.

I can hear now

Bought this to replace the gtx480 stock cooler so I could have reduced noise. Comes with a nice braided fan extension cable so I have the fans on a fan controller. With fans on min it is silent and idle temps around 42c. Overclocked to 800mhz with increased voltage, fans on max, it will get into the 80s but it so much quieter than stock. Overall happy with the purchase, but make sure your case has good airflow as a LOT of heat will now be dumped into your case.

Great cooler

I bought one of these for my Gainward GTX 470. Performance is nothing short of amazing. Load temps have gone from 88c (stock) to 56c (@ 750).

The only real negative is the VRM cooling. I was under the impression that my 470 was reference design (given the stock cooler and stock clocks). Unfortunately the bundled VRM sinks were incompatible, and I had to use Enzotech mosfet sinks instead. It's not clear whether it's a problem with the design of my card, or if Gelid screwed up, but it's definitely worth checking your layout before you start.
