Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366)

The tower CPU Cooler “Tranquillo” uses 4 power heat pipes and a special heat pipe constellation to achieve best heat transfer from CPU core to the aluminium fins in its class. After precise software simulation and calculation during the development stage a unique heat sink shape was created to lower air flow resistance as much as possible.
A silent 120mm fan with the intelligent GELID PWM (Pulse Width Module) control has been chosen to make this heat sink more valuable. The fan blades were optimised to guarantee high airflow while running silently. The intelligent GELID PWM curve keeps the fan silent when no necessary cooling is needed and accelerates the fan speed whenever additional cooling is needed. The multi-award winning high performance GC-2 thermal compound is already included in the package.
Additionally mounting clips for AMD 754/ 939/ 940/ AM2/ AM2+ and for Intel 775, 1366 and latest 1156 sockets as same as back plates for Intel LGA 775, Core i5 and Core i7 boards are all included.

Excellent Cooling for Price

This is an excellent cooler. Silent even on full fan speed.

My i2500k (unclcoked) was 35c idle and 75 load, with this cooler, idle 25c load 50c.

I've actually given it a 4* jsut because the installation instructions (1 page) was poor. The photos illustrating each step of the installation were 1 inch in size! I couldnt install uit until I found some reviews online which covered it in mroe detail with pictures you can actually see.

Once you know what you're doing the installation is actually a breeze although the fan was a bit fiddly.

Excellent Price/performance ratio
Easy installation (poor installation instructions)

Stuck this on my friend's old Q6600 which was idling at 55C and hitting 85C under load.

Fitting was logical and straightforward.

Temps down to 23C idle 35C load. It is also pretty quiet - quieter than my CM Hyper 212+ which isn't exactly noisy.

Given that I paid

Excellent Budget cooler

Excellent Cooler, very well put together, clear instructions, great performance and very quiet. My 'go to' cooler from now on, just make sure you have enough space in your case.

I bought this from another retailer, but thought I should leave some feedback non the less.

I was going to get the Corsair H60 as I've heard no end of recommendations from friends, but thought I'd read a bit more. Eventually came across a few recommendations for the Tranquillo and thought why not for

worth every penny

got this to replace the normal intel hs/fan on the wifes quad 6600,and ive seen idle temps drop by half, not run it under load yet but i dare say it will be running cool

Top marks

I bought this to replace a "silent" Zalman cooler for my Athlon Phenom II X4 965. Even at standard clocks, the Zalman would start whooshing like a jet engine at load - very far from silent, despite being hidden inside a (very nice) Fractal Design R3 case. I swapped in the Gelid, and was stunned by how much quieter the machine became. Really - even at load, and with the case fans at minimum, the CPU fan stays whisper quiet. Better cooling than the Zalman, too. Highly recommended if you want a quiet PC.

Brilliant Value for money

My CPU (i5 2500K @ stock) was running abit hot on a Artic Freezer pro 7, it was suggested to me to try this cooler instead and after fitting i instantly saw a massive improvement in temps both idle and load.
Idle now 24-29
Full load Prime95 maxxed is 56
This Cooler is also much quieter than the Freezer 7.
I couldn't recommend this enough and would even consider this a major upgrade over a freezer pro 7 for only about

Decent for the Price

Bought this fan moving from the stock intel cooler and i went for this as i was on a tight budget for a cooler.

It was easy to assemble the fan, and adapters, and relatively easy to fit, Found it a bit tricky due to the size of my case, i had to take the mobo out in the end to fit it, but it fits perfect.

It has cooled my i7-2600K(not overclocked, 3.4Ghz) by 10 - 15 degrees.

To be honest i was expecting it to cool it a bit more as i want my system idling below 30 degrees, But i really cannot complain for the price, its excellent.

Gave it 5 stars because the price is great, the quality is great and the cooling is decent.

Excellent CPU Cooler

I was delighted with this product - it was extremely easy to put together and fix to the motherboard and the cooling performance is brilliant. I barely hear it at all!.

Highly recommended

simply astonishing

After being on stock with temps going through the roof I decided rather then melt my Cpu id try and cool my case and chip.

Initially I had a problem with the instructions but then i used what little common sense I have and it was a breeze to fit literally 8 screws and jobs done.

Once fitted i found that from idle temps of 45-50 this cooler was making my i5 750 @ 3.4 hit 19 degrees yes 19 at idle, that is a drop of 35-40 degrees and all at such a low cost.

Outstanding cooler will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cpu cooler.

Fab Cooler

Love this cooler - it runs my 1055T overclocked from 2.8GHZ at 4GHZ with a voltage of 1.5v and keeps it cool with decent temps even after an hour of running prime on all cores. A fantastic product.

I got recommended this for my first computer build, cpu remains under 30 degrees , i5 2500k.
very quiet. I am impressed and would definitely recommend this heatsink :)

Joe 2011-12-31

The quiet one

Very quiet indeed, even at 1400rpm. I52500 with Mx4 tops at 60C core temp. in Prime95.

George 2011-12-21

Does the job

Bought this afew days ago, upgraded from a stock heatsink chopped 30 degrees off. ( was running at a very high 62 degrees ) would have given 5 stars however the fan seems to make a high pitched noise. Great product!

PS. if you have a large fan on the side of your case this might not fit as mine was a tight squeeze.

I got this last week based on the reviews I read here, so I thought I'd come back to highly recommend this one. I'm running a Core i5 3.3Ghz 2500k and this cooler took a whole 20 degrees out of the numbers my CPU was running at with the stock intel cooler. You wont even hear is it action. It's very easy to install too. I mean there some coolers out there which are twice the price but do exactly the same job as this does, so this product is good value for money!!!

charlie 2011-11-23

Best bang per buck

The product is well made and feels high quality. The fan has good build quality and finish. The mounting system and setup is easy, not fiddly, very intuitive and quick to setup.

4 pin fan for speed management and control with CPU fan headers.

Great temps with this for the money. Absolutely silent whenever I have used one for builds.

Grteat cooler for air OC

Keeps my 4.6ghz 2500K nice and cool. Highly recommended.

Greg Mann 2011-11-03

Beats my H50 hands down

Bought this cooler for my sandybridge system and wow.

i7 2600k at 4.8ghz sits at 28 degrees idle with a fan speed of 700rpm and is silent.

When under load it peaks out around 45-50 degress with a fan speed around 1350 but is still so quiet with the supplied fan.

Great work from Gelid.

Macca 2011-10-25

Pretty brilliant

I've just replaced the stock cooler on my Llano so that I can begin overclocking it.

Had amazing drops in temps

Under stock it idles at 28 C, occasionally less, under maximum load it's at 46 C. I'm looking forward to overclocking with this thing I can tell you!

PureAppleJuice 2011-08-04

Top Cooler

Using this to cool my i5 760 and it works a treat! Currently Oc'd to 3.6ghz (From 2.8 stock) and it idles at 40 and hits 60 under load.

Being a first time PC builder I found it really easy to fit and the temps could be even lower if my cable management was better :D

Aaron 2011-08-03

Top cooler

Great cooler at a reasonable price.

Inaudible at around 1111RPM or lower.

Good solid fixing method (4 sprung screws into a backplate).

I5-2500K at stock. Idle 25/30C, Load (IBT) approx. 55C.

Amazing heat sink

I bought this recently because I was getting a little annoyed by the stock amd heat sink... oh my what a difference! It's inaudible, regardless of what I'm doing, and the temps seem to be pretty good (roughly 10 degrees less than stock).

It's also worth mentioning that the clearance for ram sticks is pretty good too, mine didn't need to moved. That said, it is enormous so I'd check the dimensions before buying.

If you're sick of stock heat sinks I'd thoroughly recommend this as a replacement.

Cooling performance

Received mine yesterday, usual great delivery service from OC, thankyou. The cooler is very big compared to the standard Core i7 cooler, but it's very good indeed. After some hassle fitting it and using Arctic Cooling MX3 I get max temps of 52 degress C using the Intel Burn in Test (8 threads) on a 930 Core i7 processor - non overclocked, but Turbo Mode is on, so it runs around 3Ghz under load. Idle is around 19 degress C. I like the fact that you can use any 120mm fan with it to, although the included 120mm fan is VERY quiet. CustomPC recommended it and they wasn't wrong in their review. Great stuff and very cheap to compared to alot of other socket 1366 coolers, recommended buy 5 Stars :)

KevC 2010-09-02

Amazing bang for buck

This is practically inaudible, my case fans are now letting the team down, at my day to day speed of 3.2 1.35v on my Q6600 G0 barely breaks 50c. Not bad, considering my old zalman cooler would load @ 70c.

Well worth the paltry

Matt 2010-02-12

"While top-end cooling for LGA1366 is somewhat lacking, the Tranquillo is pretty good at cooling LGA1156 and AMD CPUs. Furthermore, the Tranquillo is keenly priced at a little over
