(from 11 customer reviews)Good board but not as good as I first th
Just wanted to set the record straight. Thought this board was a better clocker than it actually is.
There is in fact, as Bob says below, a chipset limitation. If you leave the PCI frequency on auto the PCI frequency will increase to an unknown level as the FSB is increased. This could in theory damage your SATA drives & GPU.
I have now set my PCI frequency manually to 105 and have subsequently hit a wall at 350 FSB.
Excellent Board
Bought this to replace a dead GA-965P-DS3P whilst saving up for Sandybridge.
Do not believe anyone who says this board will not overclock. My e6400 is currently sat at a stable 3Ghz on stock volts. I'm confident I can get it to at least 3.2....
Sata ports are poorly positioned. My 8800GTX covers 1 out of the 4.
PCI Express slot retaining clip is also badly designed & it will be a swine to unlock the card.
These are the only negatives.
If you want a cheap 775 board that will overclock look no further!
Unbelievable
I cut and pasted this from what I said in the forums.
"I got it for a play thing while saving for a better set up.
I have never been so impressed by any board I have owned from Foxconn BLACKOPS to Striker Extreme, Im not saying this board is better than those two but price vs performance this board is simply outstanding.
Better than 90% of boards twice its price.
I have had my E6600 up at 3.8Ghz and my E2140 up at 3.2Ghz, I know this board will push further but want to get water on the silicon before I push the volts."
Nice Board
Brought this as my striker extreme went pop. Hopefully this will tided me over till sandy bridge. Nice little board apart from some niggles, these been.
If you have a full lenght double slot pci-e gfx card the 2 of the 4 sata headers are a no no.
Couldn't install windows 7 on an ssd with more than 2gb ram installed
Also as a budget board I didn't expect a large overclocking headroom, and this is what I got. At 333 FSB I hit a wall (well known chipset problem as FSB is linked to the PCI frequency) but my E8400 runs fine at stock. :)
Great board
Lovely little board (little being the operative word - I did not know this was a micro ATX board!), running my Intel Core 2 Duo easily enough.
Bonus points for the bright orange SATA cables!!
Awesome Lil Board
Im running a Q9550, 4gb ddr2 ram, 1gb geforce 9800gt, Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB hdd, im running xp @mo lol
Nice
Awesome little board for the price, just bought it for a new budget build.
GeForce GT 240
Dual-Core E2200
OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 2GB
450W power supply
Runs everything nicely and OC's the Dule-Core and the RAM nice and easy!
Buy it!
very sturdy, good price
cheapest board going, definitely gr8 value for money. Sturdy platform, plus micro atx, so in a atx case lots of room to store caboles
Nice Stable Board
I have had one of these for a while. replaced a nforce board in my acer pc.
Very stable no isssues at all. Using e4700 and 3gb ram and a Nvidia 260 GTX with a 750 watts power supply and windows 7 64bit
Cracking little board
Got one as part of a bundle with an E5300 Intel and a no-name 2GB DDR2 stick. Rock solid so far and brilliant value for money.
Would definitely recommend a fan on the chipset heatsink - it runs very warm if you're using the onboard video. The power connectors could also be better placed: why put the ATX and 12V headers so far apart?
For this money, though, a complete bargain.
Excellent budget board
I installed this board in a new PC a couple of weeks ago. It has all the connection ports you might want from a standard budget PC - low power consumption, 4*USB on the back as well as older parallel & PS/2 ports. Only 1 PCI-E*16 slot but if you need 2 graphics cards you'll buy a full sized board.
The BIOS has fairly automated overclocking settings, overclocked an E5300 to 3.83GHz very easily with auto voltage management.
