GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Virtual Reality is upon us with the likes of Oculus Rift already available and HTC Vive coming very soon. Valve have released a SteamVR benchmark which will test your system for VR Readiness, we advice customers to run this benchmark as the minimum specification to be VR Ready is a GTX 970 from camp NVIDIA. VR is a game changer for games such as Elite Dangerous, Portal 3, Flight simulator, Project cars and who knows the elusive Half Life 3 may make an appearance from Valve as being VR optimised, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Get VR Ready with GeForce® GTX.
GeForce® GTX graphics cards provide a powerful next-generation platform for the ultimate immersive virtual reality experience. Immersive VR requires seven times the graphics processing power of traditional 3D apps and games. NVIDIA's unique set of features-such as multi-res shading-mean you get the right level of performance, image quality, and latency to ensure your VR experience is nothing short of amazing.

Mind blowing

Well I upgraded to this card from a 960 and it just plays the games so much better I have another 2 on the way aswel :) it's that good I'm sticking with 970's for abit not bothering with 1070/1080

Martin 2016-05-31

Upgraded from a R9 290 which is in the same performance range, but the difference in games that use nvidia gameworks is huge.

Performance gain was overall around 10-15%, but upgrading to this allows me to move towards an SLI build with my current PSU, which I couldn't have done with the R9 290.

Overall amazing card, cannot wait to add another G1 in SLI.

Fantastic card!

Recently purchased this card, and what can I say - It's exactly what i would have hoped for and more!

Running games nice and smooth in 2500x1440.
Quiet, power efficient and easy to overclock.
Not to mention it looks absolutely beautiful.

Honestly so happy with it I'm thinking about getting a second one.

Fast delivery as per usual and was even happier to see a pack of Haribo included! - I'm glad somethings never change :)

Best Card I've Owned!

What can i say?... What a Card!!
Well firstly this card is amazing!! I upgraded from a HD Sapphire 7870 GHz Edition and the difference is staggering, a much greater performance boost than I expected.
I changed back to NVIDIA from giving AMD a try, but I didn't like all the driver issues, and the endless updates, I wont be going back!!
Performance wise this card is a BEAST!!!. I have a 144hz monitor, and 95% of the newest games, I get 80 to 120 FPS on the highest settings and a solid 144hz on the slighty older games.
This card is the sexyest card your'll ever see. Its a very high quality build with a gun metal finish and the Windforce logo lights up blue on the side, It looks gorgeous in my white NZXT H440 case.
Its the quetiest GPU I've owned, the fans are almost silent.
I plan on getting a second one when the prices drop so I can jump on the 4K band waggon, I can't wait to SLI these bad boys!

So i got this not to long ago and let me tell you its so amazing.
Lets just say i run Skyrim on ultra settings with high resolution texture mod at a stable 60FPS capped.
1. The fully customisable light is very easy to work with and looks amazing
2. Very Solid with a nice metal back-plate to prevent the graphics card to bow (bend)
3. The cooling is amazing with my graphics card running idle at about 25-30!!! On full load on a casual game gets to about 40-45 but the higher demanding games like BF4 it can reach about 60 but still then thats very low compared to some other cards.
4. Very easy to overclock
5. Great Nvidea support with regular updates to keep the card to high standards

Overall this card can run anything i throw at it so its a must buy!

Cracking card

Bought a pair of these before Christmas but during initial testing one was not well. Thankfully OCUK were their usual very efficient selves so I had a replacement in no time.

Initially I ran these cards individually on air just to prove stability before I fitted them with waterblocks. On stock settings they fly and temperatures are astounding compared to earlier generations. very power efficient and incredibly fast. I had inconsistent overclocking results on air, on one of the cards as going much above stock speeds caused issues with the driver crashing, whilst the other card was easily happy to do 1450 and above with nearly 4000mhz memory

The real fun was when all the bits for watercooling them finally arrived.... EK full cover blocks and backplates once fitted have proven to be a dream! Under stress test in Valley/ heaven/ 3D mark etc I'm hitting a maximum temperature of 42 degrees.. Not bad when they are now both over clocked and rock solid at 1490 core and 3950 memory......

Was very pleased

I had been wanting this for quite some time, I had a 770 GTX which was very nice performed well, but started to struggle on the newer games so i saved up got the G1 and i have not regretted it since.

Very overclock-able! Smashes every game I've got Even Unity which is a very stressful game. Were as before i was only able to play unity on low settings!

ULTRA everything now its brilliant, Running at 1674 Boost, Around 1500 core. 8040 Memory. At Stock Volts! I've enjoyed benchmarks.

Highly recommend this card, Best for price - performance in my opinion!

Very silent! i can barely hear this graphics card past my Water cooling Fans.
Runs very Cool, max temp I've been to is 62 And that was while i was benchmarking to the max.
Its not flimsy its very well structured and feels solid

There is none to my knowledge

Awesome all round

This graphics card is awesome, a single card will play AC unity comfortably on 1440p (albeit you may have to turn down AA), but the best feature is that it boosts to 1400mhz out of the box and 1500mhz is achievable.

The design is also excellent with the metal shroud and the gorgeous looking backplate. i would recommend this card to anyone thinking of buying a GTX 970, gigabyte are now my to go brand when buying graphics cards as their quality of build is just excellent

Absolutely brilliant card, blew my gtx 480 out of the water!

Excellent value for money card.

Running at 1500 core and 8000 memory, no voltage adjustments. 62 degrees max reported temp. 10800 on 3dmark firestrike. Excellent value for money.

Gtx 970 G1 is a stunning Gpu card, they really put alot of thought into the design. The fan shroud in completely metal and the fan blades have been totally revamped and the blue LED goes perfect with the UV blue coolant in my custom loop and now EK have declared the water block is coming soon for this Gpu I cant wait to get my hands on it. Besides that tho the card is much lighter than the Gigabyte Gtx 780 Windforce and runs alot cooler my 780 was hitting about 75c-80c on games and the 970 is running at 62c on full load big big difference in temp. All in all i recommend buying this card the games at the moment might not be bringing this card to its full potential but for the long term future investment it will be worth it.

Perfect Upgrade

Opted to upgrade from an R9 280X as the 970 offers such a great price/performance ratio and has the extra 1GB VRAM. Paired with 8350 @ 4.2Ghz with 8GB RAM

This card really can handle everything you throw at it at 1080p (haven't tried any higher resolutions).

COD AW - Max SMAA x2 and x2 Super-sampling 60fps with odd dip to mid 50's when things get crazy.
Valley Benchmark - Extreme HD 56fps average
Lords of the Fallen - Max pretty constant 60fps (but this game is getting one final optimization patch to sort it out)
Far Cry 3 - Max with 4xMSAA Solid 60fps with rare dips to mid 50's

Testing on AC Unity and Far Cry 4 will be the best performance test.

But overall this is a great card and won't need to upgrade for 3/4 years. Stays very cool too.

playing some games in 4k makes a massive difference, was previously using a 670 ftw and this upgrade was HUUUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

i guess i was lucky and it overclocks to 1597mhz on the core, just below 1600 without overvolting, yeahhh baby!

Don't worry if you can't get one

Great card. Does what it says. BUT I moved from a 7870 on a 2560 x 1440 and Battlefield on High/Medium to this card on Ultra settings and..... well, just don't panic. It doesn't make that much difference to gameplay and the difference between High and Ultra is pretty minimal visually. I think the games today are not really challenging this hardware.

Excellent Value for Money

970s are both more powerful and considerably cheaper than Nvidia's last generation of GPUs.

This Gaming edition is factory overclocked and has a nice solid fan/heatsink with plenty of room for extra tweaking. Similar cards are all either clocked lower or don't have as good a cooling solution or both.

Looking for something at the Upper-end of the performance scale but don't want to pay the price premium for the absolute bleeding-edge stuff? This card is really a no-brainer.

Pretty good but.... could be better.

In terms of performance, it's great - at full HD it handles everything you can throw at it.....but it has a couple of "flaws".

1. The fans run constantly - if the likes of Asus and MSI can shut the fans down at idle, why can't Gigabyte? Even under manual control you can't slow them down past 35%

2. It sometimes makes a high-pitched noise that disappears when the card starts working hard. I've no idea what's causing it or whether it's meant to.

Because of these "issues", it loses a star.

so pleased with one i bought another

well I had two 670 4gb asus cuda when I thought this has had such good reviews I want to try one just the one and see how it compares to my sli setup. so happy with the card I have just ordered my second one amazing card cant fault it and only an inch ish longer than the ones im replacing so silent so cool great card get them while they are hot... or cool oh I play on 1440 so part of the reason was to be able to play on my next screen which will ofc be a 4k but at this res its amazing

670 SLI upgrade

Upgraded from a 670 SLI to 2 x. 970 G1's - doubled framerate in Project Cars.

Card is already overclocked, but can be clocked even more!

Very happy customer and a very worthwhile upgrade.

Best bang for you buck!

Upgraded from a Asus 7970 Ghz as I play on a 1440p screen and I wanted to max out my games collection. Briefly had a few 750ti cards for mining so I already new how good the maxwell architecture was, but what Nvidia have achieved with this generation is amazing, low power draw, cool, quiet and excellent performance. My last 4 cards have been AMD, the last time I owned a Nvidia was the fantastic 8800 GT, I'm now officially back on the green team. I studied the reviews carefully and was tempted by the 980 but couldn't justify over

Great card!

I had an order in with another supplier for an EVGA 970 SC ACX and cancelled it after a few reports of high capacitor noise and after some pondering I opted to go for the Gigabyte G1 and I'm really happy with my choice.

This card is great for overclocking. I have mine running at 1340MHz base clock, 1491MHz boost and memory @ 1909MHz. That is a 14% overclock on the GPU and 9% on memory. I'll wind it back a bit for gaming but I'm looking forward to seeing what the bench scores are.

Cooling is excellent, when gaming it sits around 60% fan speed and I cannot hear it above the other fans in my case which are all set to low. Even at 100% fan speed its only barely noticeable.

Great looking card as the previously reviewer said.

I previously had a GTX 770 and wondered if it would be worth switching to a 970. I'm really pleased that I made the purchase as real world performance has gone up considerably and its cooler and more efficient than my old MSI.

This card is a good inch or so longer than a 770 so make sure you have a bit of room in your case to play with before buying. I have an Antec 1200 and it was pretty snug with power cable position.

Mind blowing

This is one hell of a card. Out of the box it's fantastic as is but when overclocking, I am gob smacked. The amount of space available to overclock is beyond my expectations. Usually with reviewers getting hand picked cards, I figured they'd be candy picked but the average card performs just as well.

The back plates most certainly are good and awesome looking, fans are incredibly silent compared to the Gigabyte 770.

Out of the box in a Sli configuration in Heaven bench. achieved x3 what my 770 did.

This is most certainly an upgrade that I am most impressed by and happy with.

I bought this card on launch day and it is absolutely fantastic in so many ways:

1. Looks stunning with all metal frame and beautiful backplate, will fit into any colour scheme if you are bothered about that
2. WINDFORCE logo lights up blue LED and can be customised to flash or turned off :)
3. Very, very solid build quality
4. Silent at stock fan speed, and just a faint whoosh at 100% fan speed
5. I have mine running 24/7 at 1500 core 8000 mem at stock volts
6. Temp in Firestrike when overclocked only hits 60-62, in BF4 its like 55 max (i'm coming from a 290 which was a warm beast)
7. Higher base clock than most other 970's if you are not overclocking
8. Runs cool and efficient so wont dump as much heat, reducing your other components heat (same for all 970's I guess)
