Z390 Aorus Pro WIFI Intel Z390 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard

Enthusiast Motherboard (E-ATX) with Z270 Chip, with 4× PCIe 3.0 x16 (x16/x16/x8/x8), 2× USB 3.1 (1× Type A & 1× Type C), 2× M.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4) & 2× U.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4), 9× USB 3.0 + 8× SATA 6G, 1× RGB-LED Header & Gigabyte's FUSION RGB-LEDs, Pre-Installed MOSFET Watercooler The GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 9 is an ATX motherboard utilising Intel's Z270 chipset for Intel processors from the 6th ("Skylake") and 7th ("Kaby Lake") generations on socket LGA 1151. The chipsets from the 200 series, known as "Union Point", come with up to 24 PCIe Express 3.0 lanes and bring more overall HSIO lanes (High Speed I/O) as well, thereby enabling more internal connections (such as SATA or PCIe slots) to be used simultaneously. As a Z270 motherboard, the GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 9 enables overclocking of K-series CPUs, which offer completely unlocked multipliers.

The Features of the GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 9 - An Overview:

  • 4× PCIe (3.0) x16 (16/16/8/8) & 2× PCIe (3.0) x1
  • 2× USB 3.1 (Type A & Type C) / 9× USB 3.0
  • 2× M.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4) / 2× U.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4) / 8× SATA 6G
  • Supports up to 64 GB DDR4-RAM at 2.400 MHz
  • Pre-Installed Watercooler from EK WB on the Voltage Regulators
  • FUSION RGB-LED Lighting
  • Expandable via RGB-LED Header (4-Pin)
  • CPU Overclocking via Multiplier & Baseclock

The GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 9 in Detail

The GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 9 is an extremely well-equipped E-ATX motherboard with a pre-installed watercooler from EK Waterblocks on the voltage regulators (compatible with up to 10 mm ID tubing) and Intel's Z270 chipset offers compatibility with Intel's processors from the 6000 and 7000 series. The board provides four PCIe x16 slots, of which two are connected with a full 16 lanes to the chipset, while the other PCIe x16 slot is connected electrically with eight data links. For I/O and expansion cards the board offers two PCIe x1 slots and supports NVIDIA's SLI and AMD's CrossFireX technology.

The motherboard provides DDR4 RAM compatibility over 4 DIMM slots in ultra-fast dual-channel mode. The memory banks take up to 64 GB RAM and, depending on the processor installed, supports memory clocks of either 2.133 MHz (with Skylake CPUs) or 2.400 MHz (with Kaby Lake CPUs). One of the unique features of the GIGABYTE AORUS GA-Z270X-Gaming 9 is the Fusion RGB-LED lighting and a header for RGB-LED strips.

In order to connect the very fastest data storage devices, the board comes with two M.2 slots for extreme NVMe M.2 SSDs as well as two U.2-Ports and eight SATA 6G connectors for 3,5" or 2,5" hard drives and SSDs (incl. RAID support). The M.2 ports are connected to the chipset via four PCIe lanes in the 3.0 standard and allow, when combined with the NVMe protocol, a data transfer rate of almost 4 GB/s. This allows M.2 PCIe SSDs to function up to eight times faster than SATA 6G SSDs!

The motherboard's I/O panel offers a new kind of USB port, USB Type C, which is particularly thin and is finally able to be plugged in both ways. Besides the Type C port, the motherboards also provides a backwards compatible USB 3.1 Type A port. USB 3.1 ports, with their maximum throughput at 10 GBit/s, twice as fast as previous USB 3.0 ports! As far as input devices and other gaming peripherals are concerned, the I/O panel also offers five USB 3.0 ports.

If no graphics card is present, the integrated GPU on the Skylake or Kaby Lake CPU allows for monitors to be connected directly to the rear of the motherboard - HDMI and DisplayPort are available. Internally the motherboard offers - among other functions - two USB 3.0- and USB 2.0 headers, a TMP header, four 4-pin headers for PWM fans as well as XMP support and an array of overclocking features.

Nice board that easily took the 9900k to 5.2ghz

Very nice well balanced board. Very good power delivery and no issue with heat. Highest temp I got on the board being 80c this was after letting the Bios app overclock the cpu to 5.2ghz.
Do not use it. Extremely heavy volts added.
Get into Classic Bios an do it the old fashioned way. After setting it all up manually highest chipset temp was 43c over a 8 hour period. And was happy to run a cinebench score of 2060 on first pass with a pretty unbelievable highest core temp of 77c.
100% recommend the board an the 9900k cpu
