solid bit of kit

I really wanted a Gigabyte board to go with my Gigabyte SLI graphics cards which is how I ended up with this one. From reading various reviews I found this one benchmarks OK compared to other premium boards, not the best but very little in it. I boasts that it can run x16/x16 in 2-way SLI by sharing PCI-e lanes but this is really kind of a gimmick however it does show a clear advantage over the gaming 7 which I was comparing it to. It isn't really as flashy as the lower boards in the series, not quite as many LEDs and such. It is however a very sturdy and tough feeling board, it feels like it's coated in matt black paint and it supports my fat ass Windforce 780 GHz Editions with no visible sag unlike my old ASRock board.
According to reviews the heatsinks around the CPU can run a bit hot but this doesn't seem to be a problem. It has a plethora of headers, chassis fans and USB 3.0 header for your case. The BIOS looks like it's trying to be Windows 8 but you can just bang it into 'classic mode' and off you go. The bundled software is a bit waz, I wouldn't bother. Might want to leave your RAID array until after you install Windows and install the up to date drivers as my Windows kept trying to extract onto the array which didn't work very well.
In all solid board, quite expensive though, I got mine
