Very impressed by the build quality.

Sounds OK too, and mic is fine, and doesn't pick up ambient noise and keyboard all that much (a little bit).

Feels sturdy, with aluminium frame, good fit, nice braided cables, loads of accessories (leather and fabric ear cups, lots of cables and extensions, pouch, removable microphone), and great presentation.

Although I cannot compare to other headsets (since these are my first 'gaming headset'), I don't think you could go wrong with one of those.

The Toyota of gaming headsets? Probably. Very competent (good sound detail, good mic), comfortable, not flashy, really good quality, and affordable.

Excellent for the price

I always think you need to take into account the price when dealing with audio equipment. At around £60-£65 we are dealing with a low-mid range priced headset. For the money, this headset is excellent.

I only use it for gaming, as it does lack finese when listening to music. Good positioning, and excellent seperation of sounds means these are highly recommended. I find them very comfortable, and thats over a fairly large pair of glasses. They don't pinch, and I don't get a headache with them.

Are they as good as £150+ senheisser / £250 Bose / £330 B&O? No, not at all. No where near, especially for music. But for the £55 I paid, they are unbeatable, and I'd say better than anything under £100 that I've used. The boxed accessories are also excellent, with every cable you could wish for.

Great headphones with only minor drawbacks.

Right, im not gonna go into sound because i cant tell the difference between a £300 pair of headphones and a £2 pair of in-ears. They sound great. Moving on. The headset is built really well, i see no signs of it coming apart or breaking in any way, and is extremely comfortable with its real leather pads (that can be swapped out for some others). The mic is detachable and sounds extremely good for a headset in this price bracket. No complaints so far. The headset is closed cup and blocks out an astounding amount of noise, however due to this design there is no space for my ears to breath, and it can be rather uncomfortable. The default wire is too short for my computer, but with the addition of the extension it becomes too long (far too long). Which is incredibly awkward and annoying, but bearable. I don;t know whether its these headphones or the fact that i havent used a pair of headphones in 2 years, and have been using a shiddy £2 pair of in ears during that time, but i get mild headaches while using them, not painful, just annoying and uncomfortable. Overall, i wholeheartedly recommend these, great price, great headset.

Great sound, average mic!

Purchased this after reading positive reviews from many review sites and videos, sound quality is excellent! I'm not an audiophile but have noticed my music sounds better and game sound reproduction is amazing. I have these on a Creative Soundblaster Z and the sound is top notch! (Coming from Siberia V2s). They are light and comfortable to wear for hours on end unlike my previous Siberias. The only thing which I feel lets this product down is the average mic - my previous headset had a clearer mic. Nonetheless people do not have any issues with understanding the words coming out of my mouth. Great headset for the price (I paid

Honest Review

Im going to do a full review but i will add a quick summery first:

These headsets are great for the price, expect to pay at least

HyperX ? more Over-hyped!

After reading reviews for this headset I was expecting to get something that was a little better than the price suggested but I'm left seriously disappointed by these.
They seem OK-ish for gaming, maybe a little tinny especially with gunfire and explosions and they just don't convince me at all, there's no real immersion from the sound and I'm always aware that the sounds are just a game, if that makes sense. I am using them plugged directly into the Asus Maximus VII Formula so it's not like the source is lacking in any way. Combined with either the Asus Supreme FX software or the Razer Surround Pro software you can usually get some beautifully precise sounds from a half decent headset or from my Onkyo TX-NR609 but not from these HyperX cloud.

Listening to music really highlights the poor sound quality with bass becoming distorted. Bass that sounded perfect on my Onkyo or Sennheiser headphones, no matter what the volume, and on some songs the voices would be incredibly poor with metallic sounding hisses that accompanied every word. For an example of what I'm referring to, just listen to something like Anthony and the Johnson's 'Knocking on heavens door' or 'Go Ahead' by Rilo Kiley which will emphasise the bass and metallic voices respectively.

I have on ear headphones that leave these miles behind a far as sound quality goes and I felt compelled to write this review because of these issues. Maybe for people who have not experienced audiophile type headphones these would be an ok choice, but for anyone who has I'd wager there would be some questioning of the high reviews these have received. They are so mediocre that I'm going to give them to my son and that's saying something, because he has eaten the last two sets of headphones I've let him have :) (He likes to chew on the wires)

One thing I have to mention on the plus side is the boxing, really nice presentation, but it's a shame the sound doesn't match that for me. This is obviously just my opinion but I wish that I'd have come across a review like this when I was looking for a new set of gaming and all round headphones. I'll be sticking to Sennheiser from now on.

Top end quality for mid range price

As a musician and gaming/music enthustiast, having used a wide range of headphones over the years these are quite simply a STUNNING pair of cans for the money. For gaming they exceed my BeyerDynamic DT770s with very tight bass and a comfortable fit / removable mic. The build quality, packaging and included accessories put rivals to shame (I had the Asus echelon before these and ended up giving them away as they paled in comparison)

I had these delivered to my seat at the awesome i52 LAN event, the same day as placing my order, by the excellent OcUK team. Although the guy wearing the "No, I wont fix your computer" t-shirt didn't like it when I asked him to fix my computer :) You know who you are... Anyway, down to business. This headset is amazing value for money with a far better quality audio than many more expensive sets. It has a clear crisp quality across the higher frequency range, a well defined mid-range, and a rich bass thanks to the slightly warmer-than-neutral cans. Great for music and gaming. Its of a high build quality using good materials, its comfortable, the mic is excellent, the noise cancellation is excellent... I'm gushing here but its seriously good. Finally, thanks to all the awesome people I met at i52 for making it so much fun.
