Prolite XB2779QS-S 27" 2560x1440 IPS Professional Widescreen LED Monitor - Silver/Black

Featuring WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution, the XB2779QS can display almost 77% more information on the screen than a Full HD display. Users can create their own workspace by displaying and manipulating multiple applications at the same time. The AH-IPS matrix guarantees high performance with accurate and consistent colour reproduction, wide viewing angles and a fast response time. An array of inputs including HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI and VGA connections ensures compatibility across a wide range of mulitimedia devices. The XB2779QS is perfect for demanding users who settle only for the best specifications and modern design.

With true WQHD 2560 x 1440p resolution your monitor is ready to display high definition images. This means you can accommodate more information on your screen, i.e. over 76% more in comparison to a 1920 x 1080 monitor.

The AH-IPS panel technology guarantees consistent colour reproduction with wide viewing angles and high contrast and therefore it is especially recommended for graphics design and other applications which require colours to be displayed accurately. The response time of the panel allows for smooth playback while watching films and playing games, making the IPS the best all-round technology suitable for both business and home use.

A typical CCFL LCD uses four backlight lamps. Using LED diodes considerably lowers the power consumption and reduces the CO2 emission into the environment making this LCD a true ECO-Friendly product.

Contrast Ratio is a measurement of the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white your monitor can display. Advanced Contrast Ratio is a feature that automatically adjusts contrast and brightness of the screen to assure perfect picture quality while watching films and playing games.

HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. Much smaller and more convenient than DVI, HDMI also has the significant advantage over DVI that it supports audio as well as video signals.

A Height Adjustable Stand allows you to set the perfect position of the screen ensuring ergonomic posture and optimal viewing comfort which benefits not only your health but also productivity.

iMac seconds?

I bought this screen as a 2nd monitor to go with my 2014 27" iMac, the visual similarities meaning they would likely work well together at least aesthetically! Having received the monitor I'm now pretty convinced they are identical panels. They are the same exact dimensions (down to the mm) and the iiyama even has the hole in the frame where Apple fit the FaceTime camera. Colour reproduction is also very similar and getting the two screens to match perfectly was not difficult.

The only distinguishing factor I can find between the two screens is (as everyone has mentioned) the backlight bleed. Its not great at all and if your main reason for getting the screen is watching movies i'd probably look elsewhere. If its just for office work/browsing etc though the are great and well recommended.

Great looking monitor, shame about poor

I have been looking for a 2560 x 1440 monitor with a glossy screen and low input lag and the Iiyama was the perfect fit. It is an amazing looking monitor with bright vivid colours and razor sharp text.

The problem is the horrendous back light bleed, it's like nothing I seen on a monitor before, I got my first one replaced, the second one was even worse, got a refund and went for the Asus instead.

Iiyama need to sort out the quality control on this monitor, as it has the potential to be a great monitor.

Overclockers have been fantastic in the speed they handled the RMA's and the refund, thanks lads.

Very Happy

Bought this for gaming only. Was made aware of backlight bleeding through several reviews but I don't watch films so this was not really an issue for me. Did have a small cluster of dead pixels an what looked like a small smudge behind the screen. Contacted Iiyama who sourced a replacement the very next day.

Superb colours, games look so good and not noticed any issue with ghosting as I was concerned about this issue that can occur on IPS monitors.

I am very happy. Wish I had the money for three as my R9's would like a challenge.

Great screen, not perfect, worth the pri

So I decided to buy this screen even if I read on reviews that its way to bright and it can do a buzzing noise while working while some forum members at OCUK also reported terrible backlight bleed.

I upgraded from an Asus PA246Q p-IPS 24" screen so I can compare with that.

-The additional screen size is a major advantage in everything.
-The higher resolution (and thus PPI at 27" indeed gives a very slight improvement to clarity.
-The Iiyama's colours are more natural, while Asus is very slightly oversaturated in sRGB emulation, comes down to personal taste, I like both.
-The Iiyama's colours are indeed more eye-popping and the contrast is noticeably deeper but don't expect a HUGE difference.
-This glossy panel reflects sunlight and very white lights, but its very good (I mean ok) with ambient yellowish 60W light bulbs in the room (coming for the ceiling). DO NOT BUY IF YOU MUST HAVE A WELL-LIT ENVIRONMENT!
-Impressive looks, good quality build but the stand is not very solid, it cannot keep the screen still if the desk shakes even a bit.
-No ghosting or overshoot issues, cant feel any difference compared to an older Samsung TN that I have (supposedly TN is faster).
-No noise from circuitry, even at full brightness.
-Any thing below 50% brightness is perfectly fine (depending on lighting conditions) more than that is indeed becomes to much bright.

-Problematic pixels: 1 dead pixel near the left border, so small you can't see it if you are relaxing on your chair.
-Backlight bleeding: *Luckily* 2 medium size spots of very slight bleed on the top side, can be seen even at 50% brightness on black screen but at 25% 1 disappears and the other is nearly invisible. Putting the webcam's grip there exerts enough pressure on the panel at that point and totally erases the backlight bleed issue.

-Would buy again.

Fantastic quality

I bought this monitor in December last year, before the last 3 reviews were written and I am just noticing them now. I had the exact same problem. It's a great quality monitor and seemed worth every penny when I was setting it up. It was brilliant when playing games; however, when I played a movie on it which had the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, it had horrendous bleeding at the top corners. It seemed as though the panel had been nipped when it was being put together. Considering the monitor was

superb monitor

I upgraded from an ASUS 22 inch LCD which I have had from 2009.

First impressions were that this was big :) After a day I realised I had some light bleed and found this monitor unacceptable.
However a trip down to OCUK they swapped it out and now I have a monitor that is stunning to edit photo's and video's on.

A week on and I am just about getting used to the look and feel as it's a big upgrade from a 22inch monitor.

I would highly recommend this monitor as an alternative to the Apple 27 inch display as it's cheaper and has the exact same spec with faster response time.

Great colours and contrast levels. Terri

I ordered one of these on Dec 19th to replace my DGM IPS-2701. I switched it on and knocked the brightness down from 80 to 18. The colours looked great. I was very impressed. Then I set it to a black background and I could not believe what I was seeing. Truly awful backlight bleed. The worst I had ever seen.

I drove over to OcUK on Christmas Eve and got a replacement. I switched it on and it was almost as bad as the first one. I sent a web note to OcUK. They asked for a photo which I provided. They responded within an hour and offered me a refund.

I drove over to OcUK after Christmas, got my refund and bought an Asus PB278Q which I am VERY happy with.

If Iiyama sort out the backlight problems then this would easily be a 5 star monitor but having experienced 2 of these monitors in the space of 1 week I can only give it 2 stars.

A well put together and good looking mon

Took the the monitor out of the box and you can tell the quality straight away.
The colours are amazing and the 2560x1440 resolution makes everything look clean and super sharp.
However the amount of light bleed in the top corners of the screen was terrible and also had a group of 4 stuck pixels in the middle of the screen, three of which I managed to get rid of but the last one would not move.

Returned it for a refund with no problem, always found Overclockers the best if you have problems with a product.

Was more than happy with the build quality and it is a really good looking monitor just a shame the panel let it down, from good reviews I have seen for this monitor I may have just got one with a faulty panel.

If not for the problems with the panel I would give this monitor a five star plus rating without any hesitation.

Awesome and Amazing Monitor

What an incredible monitor this is. I upgraded from an LG 1920x1080p 27 inch monitor and the difference is amazing! Stunning! It is so well worth paying the extra for a. The higher resolution of 2560x1440 and b. A decent brand such as Iiayama.

I ordered this monitor yesterday afternoon and it arrived lunchtime the next day. Packaging was fantastic and the supplied leads include HDMI, DVI, audio and power. There is no brick as the monitor has it's own transformer. Setup was easy, the stand is very stable, attractive and functional, tilting to the correct angle easily. I hooked it up with the supplied, good quality DVI leads, and booted up. WOW! The difference between this and the LG is simply stunning! The higher resolution is truly amazing.

Colours are rich and accurate, straight out of the box, whereas the previous, cheaper LG was garish. The screen is absolutely beautiful. THe rounded bezel corners are attractive and the silver strip along the bottom sets it off perfectly.

I tried BF on max settings and it blows anything else I have seen clear out of the water.

Multiple windows, browser, folders, other progs etc. all stack nicely and at last, I have a workspace that is useable with these mutli windows open. (Can't wait to try dual client Eve!)

What more can I say? I can't say much about in depth tech specs and colour settings etc. It simply works, straight out of the box and looks absolutely amazing!

I was advised to get this model by a tech at Overclockers, thanks very much for your accurate and friendly advice.

Get one, it is perfect in every way.
