Virtual Reality is upon us with the likes of Oculus Rift already available and HTC Vive coming very soon. Valve have released a SteamVR benchmark which will test your system for VR Readiness, we advice customers to run this benchmark as the minimum specification to be VR Ready is a GTX 970 from camp NVIDIA. VR is a game changer for games such as Elite Dangerous, Portal 3, Flight simulator, Project cars and who knows the elusive Half Life 3 may make an appearance from Valve as being VR optimised, lets keep our fingers crossed.

The GeForce® GTX™ 970 is a high-performance graphics card designed for serious gaming. Powered by new NVIDIA® Maxwell™ architecture, it features advanced technologies and class-leading graphics for incredible gaming experiences.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Get VR Ready with GeForce® GTX.
GeForce® GTX graphics cards provide a powerful next-generation platform for the ultimate immersive virtual reality experience. Immersive VR requires seven times the graphics processing power of traditional 3D apps and games. Nice card... but.

Got one of these on Saturday, can't fault OCUK for their great delivery service as I ordered it on friday and it got here the very next day, so hats off to you guys for that.

The card itself is really good I must say, but it has that annoying coil whine issue under load which is bugging me, I've tried to downclock it to the reference 970 speeds to see if that would fix the issue and also tried it with 3 high end PSU's but it still whines under load, but apart from that it's running all my latest games completely maxed out at 1080p with zero issues at all, it just flies through anything I've thrown at it.

I was wondering though, any of you other guys who own this card, it says that the boost speeds are 1.3GHz, well when I monitor my one it boosts up to 1.4GHz for some reason, not complaining, just wondered if anyone elses did this?

I give the card 4 stars because of the coil whine issue.

Amazing card!

I recently picked up one of these as an upgrade from a GTX480 and I'm really happy with the choice I made seeing how there are so many different looking designs, I went for this one because of the nice factory OC, even with it being OCed I've yet to see it go above 62c, and it handles all of my games beautifully too.

Highly recommend this card, really quiet running too, and I personally think it looks really mean, it might not be everybody's cup of tea but I think it's the nicest looking 970 around.

Cool but loud

A very well constructed card, with a sturdy backplate. Suffered some phasing issues for some reason with the fan, which causes a very irritating sound. Got the card RMA'ed and there was no difference. You will need ample space in your case for this card to fit. The temperatures are amazing, but the smaller 3 fans (all of them except the middle one) do seem to cause a bit of noise. Overclocking and SLI potential seem great. Is definitely a standout card and the lighting looks awesome. The minimum fan speed is stuck at 33% for some reason and the manufacturers have not updated the BIOS since release. (They claim its NVidias fault, but people have managed to make custom BIOS that overcome this.) Overclocked 3d did a good review on clock potential. The OC software that comes with the card is trash, i would reccomend after burner. If you were to SLI these boys there would be a very thin space for heat dissipation due to the size of the card. Keep this in mind. Final review would !
be that you have to be wary about phasing because theres four fans from the card alone, and the fans are a tiny bit loud for my liking. Apart from that the card is great!

Massively Cool

I've had this card for over a month now and it has been pretty much flawless.

Positives: It runs every game I've thrown at it at max settings or close to max, and in benchmarks has almost doubled the performance of my old 660Ti. It also runs incredibly cool: idle temp is a few degrees above ambient, and the max load temp I've seen is 56 degrees.

Negatives: Only minor things; the fan profile is a little aggressive and tends to ramp up quickly which means it is not the absolute quietest card on the market - but it's not intrusively loud either. It is also a MASSIVE card which takes up 3 slots and is quite heavy so be sure to support it properly when installing it.

Overall I've been very pleased with this iChill 970 and would definitely recommend it.

Simply the best

I was happy to receive the card at a decent price and no transport fee in my case, thanks OC!
The video card: it's big, it's ugly and is the best 970 on the market so far. Yes, other overclock slightly more, others are a hair more silent while other look just superb. This one is 90% of all the others ine package. Allaround a winner.
Mine overclockes to 1500gpu/2200memory. Which is an absolute beast! Over 11k in firestrike with my lazy computer is just amazing. I was hoping to get 10k with mad overclocking my i5 3570k, but it exceeded that by far. There are scores over 12k but those are done with things like disabling aero, faster ram, ssds, things I do not have or done.
The card is surprisingly silent with 4 coolers, and very cold. I never touched 70

Great Card

Ok firstly great service from OcUk, this card is huge, heavy and well put together, As you would expect it performs very well new titles like Far Cry 4 run ultra settings no issues nice and smooth at 1920x1200.
Temperatures and fan noise are the real bonus though, ambient temp in my house is 20 just now and the card is reading 23/24 Watching mkv bkuray 25/26 game play Black Flag - 38/39 Far Cry 4 - 48/49 no fan noise and my case is on the desk at chest height.
One thing worth mentioning though this card is 3 bays wide not really a problem unless your motherboard wont allow other cards in slots beside it or like me you have a ITX case some slight mods and its done. Very happy gamer.

Great Card

Just got this to upgrade from my old MSI 760oc itx so far so good runs far cry 4 no probs at 1980 by 1200 smooth as you like on ultra settings, idles at 25/26 dependent on ambient temps whisper quiet and my case is on the desk so its very close. Whilst gaming I've yet to hear the fans even when benchmarking and no coil whine you can alter fan speeds to 100% just to hear it and its like someone switching on a vacuum cleaner love it, but beware this card takes up three slots had to mod my cooler master elite 130 itx case to allow fitment. All being said and done a very very good card.

From 690 to 970

I wanted to move away from the 690 GTX due to constant problems with SLI in newer games, didn't really think I'd get a performance increase but almost every game I've tried runs much better with this card. It's very quiet, never goes over 60

Great card and service!

I bought this card to replace my old GTX 470 as I'd already upgraded CPU, motherboard RAM and power supply last year and felt that games are now arriving that will need some more juice.

It runs so much more quietly, even under heavy loads like BF4 or Shadows of Mordor maxed out with the ultra-res textures installed (the 6GB VRAM thing is nonsense, this 4GB card runs it at 60-70 fps and higher) I would have expected some sort of noise increase to what it's like in normal desktop tasks or idle but not enough for my old ears to notice. I ran Crysis 3 maxed out and only in the most intensive grassy explosive bits where a million things are happening and dynamic grass displacement and shadowing was heavy did the fps drop down to 30-40 but that is still a fantastic fps for that kind of load!

Overclockers packaged this unit amazingly with awesome Haribo thrown in as with my previous buys and even helped me take advantage of the Nvidia free game offer a week after I bought it when it was introduced.

Fantastic card from a fantastic company!

A great upgrade

I recently upgraded my monitor and the resolution is higher than my previous one which didn't seem a problem to my old graphics card until I tried to run BF4 and the higher res. My old card was an Asus GTX660Ti that run BF4 at 1680x1050 at max quality with no problem. My new monitor is 1920x1200 and the frame rate dropped terribly at that resolution. So, these new cards appeared and just had to do another upgrade.
Got the card out of the box and the initial oooh factor turned into the AH factor when I tried to install it. It is a big card indeed. I have an older Antec 300 case and the old Asus 660 just fit ok. The 970 is about 4cm longer and sadly the drive bay cage is in the way. Not wanting a new case, I got the dremmel out and removed a section of bay.

The fans are generally quiet in desktop and when gaming, and only slightly louder than my 660 which was a real quiet card. I have run 3d mark a few times and the 970 temperature never goes above 55 degrees. No coil whine!
BF4 is now maxed at 1920x1200 and runs like a dream. A worthy upgrade but beware the length of the card.

Ichill? Way cool.

Finally after 7 years of core 2 quad and a gt 640 I finally had to upgrade the system. Boarding battles in Black Flag were at best down to 10fps. Crysis was crippled. Far cry 3 was a far cry from playable at anything other than mine craft in hires graphics.
Most of the OC'd 970's looked to have similar stats with a few suffering from some whine so I went for a brand I've used before and is arguably one of the more aggressively styled. This Inno3d card is huge. It is so long at 300mm it takes up part of the drive bay in my case. This thing flies. I was expecting a performance increase, lets be fair here, Banksy could draw faster than the gt640, but bloody hell. Crysis 3 now looks good and plays at a decent frame rate. Piracy on the sevens seas has never been so detailed. Far cry now has a horizon and to top it all it has flashing LED's. Well worth it.

Very good card

I bought this card as ultra edition(1178 boost 1329) from a german shop (i live in germany) and i have to say that this card is a beast, i have overclocked it to 1550/2300 and it performs awesome, max temp oced is about 55

excellent

bought this card from OC excellent service. Sold my Gigabyte R9 270X and returned R9 290X to get this GPU. It is just satisfying. Very low noise, stays cool, beastly performance.

970 i chill

powerful, quiet, cool, looks to die for and well priced - why bother with the 980, when the 970 is this good ?
oh, and the service from the overclocker guys is awesome. can't recommend both enough.
10/10 for product and service
