(from 5 customer reviews)all you need
35 quid board 55 quid ssd 20 quid memory gets you a super fast system for most peoples standard computer usage. Great value
Excellent CPU
this is an excellent CPU for the money, was going to get something lik an G840 but really for the increase in price (200%) yuo DONT get double the processing. I would say this is half the price for a 10% sacrifice in processing ability. When you are buying 200+, you become a budgetary hero. Dont Sell A Ron, Buy a Ron instead.
Energy saver
I was going to buy an expensive 35W CPU for a mITX 24/7 download / encode build however after some reading these CPU's with low clocks, small cache etc were expected to offer decent performance with very low power usage anyway so I took a gamble.
Running with 60W DC/DC supply and power brick it takes just 17W from the wall idle, peaking at <45W encoding for a full system including:
G530
MSI mITX H61I-E35
2x2GB DDR 3
240GB OCZ SSD
XP Pro 32bit
I doubt an energy saving CPU would save a significant amount as they have low clocks anyway. Absolute performance isn't critical as I encode while I sleep.
Awsome chip for the money, I have a clocked Q6600 and a clocked I5 2500k and I can honestly say this chip feels just as fast for desktop and internet activities.
Look no further for those budget family 'net' builds
But its a Celeron?
Intel have made the Celeron sexy again (imho) with this chip - I purchased this for a low energy htpc/browsing machine that sleeps n wakes on a regular basis. Using the onboard graphics its great for watching my HD content @1080p its sips power and saves me
Great chip for the price
Very frugal, using on board GPU, 8gb of mem, priming barely hits 60w load at the plug! Very much fast enough for a LAN rig, there is no taming sandybridge!
