Core i5-8600K 3.6GHz (Coffee Lake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail

Coffee Lake

Intel-Logo These codenames belong to the eight generation of Core CPUs which follow on from Kaby Lake and Skylake, although while they still share the 1151 pin socket design, due to the variety of optimisations to Coffee Lake CPUs they will not be compatible with older chipsets. Instead these processors will require Socket 1151 motherboards bearing the 300-series nomenclature. The Intel Core i5 processors from the Coffee Lake generation offer six CPU cores, high clock frequencies and new Turbo Boost features - all with a mere 95 Watt TDP!

Intel's 8th-gen i5 CPUs

The Intel Core i5-8600K at a Glance:

  • 6 physical cores with plenty of power
  • 3,6 GHz Base Clock with a 95 Watt TDP
  • 4,3 GHz Boost Clock & Turbo Boost 2.0
  • Unlocked multiplier for overclocking (OC)
  • 9 Megabyte L3 Cache
  • Support for DDR4-2.666 (Dual Channel)
  • Updated UHD Graphics 630
  • Only compatible with Intel 300-series chipsets
  • Attention: Boxed version without CPU cooler!

The Intel Core i5-8600K: Powerful Hexa-Core Processor

The Intel Core i5-8600K offers an unlocked multiplier and can therefore be overclocked. Yet even without overclocking the Core i5-8600K offers a clock frequency of 3,6 GHz which can, when needed, be increased up to 4,3 GHz via Turbo Boost 2.0. However, it should be noted that the boost clock rates vary depending on 1-core, 2-core, 4-core or 6-core operation, which means that the optimum performance can always be obtained from the Coffee Lake CPU, allowing the user to determine what performance is available for games or applications. The L3 cache has increased to 9 MB and the thermal design power (TDP) is 95 Watts.

A major difference to the Skylake and Kaby Lake generations is that Coffee Lake is only designed for fast and efficient DDR4 memory. The quad-core processors therefore support a maximum standard clock rate of 2,400 MHz, whereas the six-core processors support up to 2,666 MHz as a standard clock rate. The LGA 1151 socket from Intel is retained, but it is essential to ensure that a motherboard with 300 series chipset is used, otherwise the processor could be damaged due to the differences in the power supplied to the chip.

In direct comparison with the 200 series, the 300 series offers an optimized power supply for the entire CPU, which results in improved potential for overclocking. The integrated graphics unit has also been optimized with regard to clock rates and drivers and has now been christened as the Intel HD Graphics UHD 630. With its 24 Execution Units, it offers more than enough graphics power for Intel Quick Sync, GPU computing and of course some games in between. Furthermore, the DirectX 12 graphics unit with the feature level 12_1, OpenGL 4.5 and OpenCL 2.0 compatibility also supports 4K playback, UHD resolutions at 60 Hz via DisplayPort - provided a compatible motherboard is used.

This boxed version of the processor comes without a CPU cooler!

Bought this last year from overclockers I've been able to get this chip at 4.7ghz stable and I can still push it abit more but I don't need to and also always the best service from overclockers

Very Fast

Upgraded from i7 4770 water cooled @ 4.4. Installed the 8600k @ 4.4 with 3600 ram surprised how much faster it is.

Top class processor

If your gaming or not this is an excellent choice. I just use the pc for much easier things these days and its going to last me a very long time. I didnt buy from OCUK but it was at 5ghz all cores in under a day of fiddling.
Will get some benches going , but can only recommend this cpu. Ram straight to 3733mhz as well. Only 1.280v so above 5ghz possible

Excellent CPU for gaming and at this price simply awesome

Fantastic CPU that overclocked out of the box to 4.8GHz by just changing the multiplyer to 48 and leaving everything else in auto at 1.278vcore max with my AIO running cool at high 20's C and at load at 60 C max Prime95 v26.6, RealBench and Intel XTU. Easily achived 5GHz at 1.378v...Simply amazing..At the offer price you cannot go wrong..nuff said!

Excellent CPU!!

Coming from an i7 4790k, this is a huge upgrade for me, the 6 physical cores are performing better on the 8600k than 4 cores 8 threads on the older 4790k. More FPS at 4K with my 1080 Ti in all the games I play as well as faster performance in creativity programs.

This is a killer CPU!

Best gaming cpu at the moment !

Overclocking this bad boy to 5ghz is a breeze, im using cheap AIO from antec and at 1.4 core voltage it stays below 60C during prime95 blend. Would recommend this to anyone looking for great gaming performance
