I've been running this processor for about a month now and it's brilliant, I'm only running it at standard clock speeds and it's running everything I give it. Runs really cool, got diamond paste on it with a Be Quite cooler and it's running at about 21c and at heavy load looking at about 40c.

So really no need to overclock at the moment but with those sort of temps it shows it has plenty of room to overclock.

Fast and stable

Got this to 4.5ghz just by changing the multiplier on a asus sabretooth without voltage increases on an antec 920 water cooler. Smashes my old AMD 8320 for fun.....very good high frames working nicely with my 680 lightning. Worth the money, just spend the money on a good motherboard and your away.

Golden CPU

Upgraded from AMD to Intel and I am especially impressed with the increase in benchmark scores first of all. I like to go to the highest level I can; I have had the chip for a month and spent some time understanding how it works. I was able to reach 4.5 GHz on stock voltages no problem I am now pushing the chip at 4.9 GHz with absolutely no problems whatsoever and it's very stable. The thermal threshold of Intel chips is very impressive I would kiss this chip right now if it wouldn't burn my lip in the process. Just struggling to hit 5.0 GHz with the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility; can't really get the voltage high enough without reaching 95c+ but I am only using a corsair H70 which is a couple years old now.

Everything I wanted

I recently purchased this product from OCuk, like always it was a fast delivery and great service.

More to the point this processor gives me everything I wanted! Upgraded from a AMD Phenom II 100t x6 and I can easily see the difference. Definatly worth the money!

Just got one of these, upgraded from an Intel Q9550, which i was actually happy with for 2 years. Wow, what a difference. Games play alot smoother, faster, better frame rates, unrars super fast and pc is so responsive. Ive been benchmarking all day (sado), and it does 1m SuperPi in 9.3 seconds. Very happy with the frame rates and speed increase, one of the best things ive ever bought. :P

Brilliant piece of kit

Upgraded from an i7930 that i had clocked at 3.6ghz. have to say the performance increase is phenomenal. I've Got it plugged into an asus Maximus V formula, using the intel closed loop water kit. got it running at 4.7ghz stable at 1.28v getting no higher than 85C under Prime95 Torture test, and idling around 35C. Could push it higher with a bit of a voltage jump but the heat starts to ramp up quickly after 1.3v and it doesnt seem worth it.

Great Processor

Overclocked @4.6 with ease with P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3. Using the Corsair CWCH80 Hydro Series H80 cooler and not exceeding 72 degrees in stress test. Hyper threading is on. My CPU Voltage setting in bios is also set to auto. If you want to overclock it further then you will need to increase voltages but beware don't push it to far. For everyday use i am happy with this overclock and would recommend this processor to everyone. Buy It Now.

really fast, better for every computer user little pricy but over all really good

4.60 with ease :)

Insanely good chip, OC's to 4.6 in bios on my board with so much ease.
Real classic chip :)

Excellent next day delivery from Overclockers as usual.

Overclocked the processor to 4.4Ghz at 1.2v, max temp 76C in Prime95 using Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler.

the chip i received is LITERALLY made of unicorn hair and magic pixie dust.

let me explain;
it runs at stock ( 3.9ghz with turbo ) fully loaded in burn-test at 44*c
and draws 32w @0.94v from the motherboard
that's Monstrous overclocking headroom right there.

i was told these things were hot? i've never seen the like of it.
either i have a perfect chip or the heat issues with this processor are vastly over exaggerated
i checked before installing, it's an e4 Malay batch so get in while you can!

Awesome processor

First of all, my comments about overclockers service - spot on delivery time. Took 4 days (weekend included) to deliver to Malta.

Now the CPU. It's not cheap, but the performance justifies the price, I think.

I'm running it at a mild overclock of 4.2GHz, with the lowest stable voltage I could manage (1.050 V according to CPU-Z). Reason being I run my CPUs at 100% on all cores, 24/7 because I participate in the World Community Grid (same sort of program as Prime95, but its purpose is to find cures for diseases, instead of prime numbers).

My cooler is the coolermaster hyper 212 evo.

Using "intel burn test" (the most "heat-generating" freeware stress tester on earth) the cooler remains barely audible (1150rpm), and the hottest core reaches a max temp of 77*C. The room temperature is currently 30*C and there's no air conditioner in the room... Intel burn test reports 93-97 GFlops (floating point operations per second) at these settings. At stock clocks it gave 83 GFlops.

Not a bad little chip this, It does run hotter in comparison to sandybridge when over clocked, but it's not really an issue provided you have decent cooling and don't go OTT with voltage.

@4.5GHz, 1.264v temps were in the 80's in prime...
but if you have balls of steel you can pop the lid and replace the TIM with some liquid pro like i did. dropped my intelburn tests from 91oC to 74oC... that was duing the heat wave too.

under prime it now hits 62oC :) i am impressed

Fast delivery as always. Very quick processor, overclocks to 4.4 Ghz on auto. Manual voltage of 1.26v get 4.7 Ghz. Temps 65c full load on water cooling custom 240 kit.

been using this cpu for about a week and WOW!! upgraded from q6600. really impressed with this cpu heat wise it run at 30-35 idle 50 when playing games. in short best

Bloke 2012-05-07

Ivy Bridge

Dont worry about the heat hype. Great processor, OCed to 4.6 GHz on 1.25 VCore (HT off). Temps at 80C Max on one core in Prime.
