but please some of the stuff people have wrote below is silly
like saying that there doom 1 runs so much smoother with this chip but dont want to pay out for a expencive graphics card to play doom 2 and 3
why on earth would you pay

If your reading this then you already know why you are, don't you ?

You want the best cpu on the market full stop.

Well it doesn't dissappoint because it is the best I think.
I took it up to 4.8ghz stable on air with a good push/ pull set up...

But I just now have set this great cpu around the 3.7ghz mark & leave it on extreme mode for when it needs that extra bit more juice, not that it really ever does, but it's nice to have some reserve in the tank.

This cpu I paired with the "Prolimatech Mega Shadow Performance CPU Cooler" & a nice poweful silent fan that gives me my 975 running @ 3.7ghz idle away at around the 40-44oC marks & when loaded never has went above the 55oC mark.

Expensive, but you knew that before you even considered it didn't you ?
Worth every penny as it blows everything else away...

There are some pretty weird reviews on here for this chip.
I bought one. For real.
I don't think I need to say how amazing this chip is. It costs alot, but it's fast. Very very fast. Even out the box and air cooled.
Never even come close to making it work for it's money, in Crysis, ResEvil, CoD 6 or you-name-it. This thing will run anything you chuck at it, smile and go back to a light snooze.
Put in a solid state drive and a good video card and you will be impressed.

Best ever

I run this with Coolermaster V8 cooling (BIG!!) in a Coolermaster 932 case and it fits perfectly.

The performance is simply fantastic. No need to overclock.

Buy know you want to!

This CPU's performance is simply amazing.

As soon as I'd finished my build and installed the OS, I booted up calc and entered 98 x 44. It answered with 4312, just like that! No lag or wait whatsoever!

This simply is a must for all overweight, spotty virgins who still live with their parents. You won't be disappointed!

Supreme Power

This CPU is Supreme, Currently running 3 WinXp Pro, Win2003 Server and vShpere using VMware, in WinXP Pro 64bit environment, with the 8 threads its fantastic. It does help when you also have Corsair 12GB (6X2GB). It is very expensive, however, its worth it as you can always overclock it.

Bought with student loan as this beast i

The headroom on this beast is amazing.
currently OC'ed to 4.7Ghz, water cooled. loads of options in bios that you dont normally see.

seldom over 60 degrees on load eg CoD MW2 on max settings,
it partitioned WD caviar black 1TB 4 ways, whilst playing bluray, and running avast pro scan like a walk in the park
oh and windows (7 Ultimate 64bit) boot time is mega.
If you coupled with a SSD then your life may well be complete

helps when it's coupled with 12GB corsair GT, asus rampage 2 extreme and 2 BFG GTX295 cards so quad SLI (water cooled to :-D )

no regrets, price is going up though - mine was

Absolutley Incredible

I bought this to replace my relativley new intel 400 processor, and I must say it is just fantastic! I am a graphic designer so need my programs (Paint, Clipart) to work smoothly. also I create lots of word Documents and the speed this will load them is just amazing, took me a mere 1 second to load 23,044 words!!
as far as multitasking goes, there is no competition, I have had both Paint and Word open at the same time now for over 12 minutes and have seend almost no lag!

Buy this chip, and your life will become so much better.

This thing is fast

I got this cpu as part of an OCUK custom build. It's rather fast :-) .

I bought this and I have to say, it makes all the difference. I used it along with my ATI Rage II and it made Doom 1 perform much more smoothly. I know people say that Doom 2 and 3 are much better, but I don't want to have to shell out hundreds of pounds for a good graphics card to play them.

Upgraded from a 6600. This is a pure fast chip with lots of headroom.

Teamed up with a Gigabyte EX58-UD5
6GB 1600 Hyper-X.

Expensive ? Yes!

Worth it ? Of course!

pure awesome

This is the best processor i ever used. Sold my house to buy this baby. it is the nutz!!!! moved back in with my parents but it was worth it.

i used to never get laid evne when i had my own flat. Threw in dual GTX295, titan fenrir cooler and NVidia 3D Vision with the Viewsonic VX2268wm 3D monitor. u wont believe how much this can do for u! my mates from my wow and aoc guild came over to check my new rig out.
the girls especially were BLOWN AWAY!!! wow on 3D vision is top notch. AoC is running with everything maxed out on DX10!!! Left 4 dead is killer!!
i had a threesome with two chics after that

if ur buying this processor dont forget ot pick up the gTX 295 and the nvidia 3d vision. its worth every penny.

Daniel Muhammed 2009-08-28

Most Excellent

I never had much luck with girls before I bought this.

Now I am playing L4D all settings maxed, chillin' with my homez on IRC, defragging my HDD and running an AV scan at the same time.

Awesome bit of kit. Running triple SLI GTX295's also lets me be sure that I can keep up with my 60Hz panel more confidently than I could my old rig, which was based upon a wheezy old i7 920 with Crossfired 4870x2's.

Downside is there is no case badge included.

And I still don't have much luck with girls.

Who cares? Bosh, check out my wad.

Loadsamoney 2009-07-28

One Amazing bit of Kit

Recently upgraded from an Intel Core i7 965 which was giving me some serious lag in supreme commander when there was multiple units on the screen, this chip is faster and is the top of the range, kind of like going from wearing dolce & gabbana to wearing prada. My girlfriend likes it as well so I have the wife acceptance factor taken care of should we wed.

The stock fan is good, but felt a little light and I word of warning, the fins are sharp to touch.

I can confirm it comes with World in Conflict, but I haven't tried it because I am waiting for street fighter 4 to arrive to christian the system with, i've only 'wet the babies head' so to speak with Doom 3 + the expansion pack.

James Potts 2009-07-18

The King Is Here

What more can i say but OMG , i sold my mum to buy this chip and all i can say is what a fantastic chip i have clocked it from 3.3GHZ to 100MHz out of the box and now it feels like im using my orig pentium 90MHz Pro from the 1993 , on top of that i have teamed it up with a intel GMA 3000 on board graphics and 512MB of DDR memory and using my 52K modem i am lagging like hell shooting people in crysis , i am playing on a max resolution of 640 x 480 on my 50hz 14 inch CRT monitor and getting an impressive 1 frame and hour in game.

This is well worth the money like all PC parts its just a shame its outdated from the min its published on this website and others.

5 Stars this is worth every penny if you want to get fat and die young without making any real friends and having no life , this is the virgins chalice of computer parts.

I love
