Best budget CPU on the market

Ordered this for a Mini ITX build. Overclocked to 4.2Ghz using the low-profile, Noctua NH-L9i.

After running Prime95 for an hour the core temp hit 76°C. Amazing results considering the lack of air flow in my case.

Picked one of these up from the store on Saturday for a second system build for the kids, along with a GTX 770 and gigabyte z97mx gaming 5, superb little chip, have it running at 4.5ghz with no problems at all. All in all if your on a budget then you cant complain with one of these.

Great Processor for Simple Build

Purchased this earlier in the year and it has worked out very well for the computer I put together. Would fully recommend. Great service from Overclockers as usual.

Cheap & Cheerful

Bought one of these to throw into a LAN pc, combined with an old gfx card (HD6950), old RAM etc. Cooled with the Cooler Master hyper 212. Running it at 3.8ghz with no issues; temps don

Cracking little CPU

This cpu has got the largest oc ratio for its class without a doubt...
I have tried and succeeded at overclocking it at 3.7, 4.0 and 4.3 with std air-cooling, and it runs withing reasonable temperature limits!

Such a good CPU!!

After using this CPU for over a month and a half, I really do appreciate how amazing it is! Everything runs smooth as butter and opens up really really fast. As this is my first custom gaming rig, I'm very happy with it being as fast and efficient as it is. I used the stock cooler for about a month before upgrading. It got around 50c/60c on a slight 3.5ghz overclock. I didn't really want to go any higher until I got an aftermarket cooler.

I then bought a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo which I heard is a solid choice for this CPU, and damn, it really is. After doing some overclocking to around 4.2ghz at 1.250 volts I got fairly good stress test results (can't remember off the top of my head but the temperatures were still very low). So, I decided to go faster. And I am now stable at 4.4ghz at 1.280V and temps are fantastic! At idle, they average around 29C and at full load they don't go higher than 65C!!

That being said, I know really do want to go even faster. I shall do that soon but for now I'll stick to what I have as I don't fancy getting high temps or any unexpected crashes. Oh yeah crashes.. I got one or two. One was when I ran a full system scan on Avast! during which I got the blue screen of death, after which I decreased the core multiplier and hasn't crashed ever since. I think that was my fault for clocking it fairly high and applying a weird amount of voltage.

Overall I am very very satisfied with this CPU as it really is a beast and has done me a whole tonne of good!! I mean, photoshop 2014 opens in like 2 seconds, dayum :)

10/10 would buy ;)

Fantastic processor for the price

Can't fault this brilliant little processor for what you pay. Easily overclocks and runs anything i chuck at it.

Overclock King

wow what a decent cpu for the money , have it clocked too 4.6 using air runs solid . playing battlefield 4 smooth as silk ., also got a 4770k , guess whats in my machine all the time ? the g3258

Great processor for the price

Cheap and cheerful with good overclocking potential even on a lower-end aftermarket cooler, a great buy for a budget build!

Amazing performance once overclocked

I decided to switch from an AMD Phenom II X4 B55 @3.9GHz to this processor, mainly to experiment with what this processor is capable of when overclocked, never did I know that this would end up shredding my Phenom II in practically every game I tried, the only games where it fell short which I tried were Watch Dogs and Star Citizen I clocked it to 4.4GHz and my mind has been blown sky high, FFXIV:ARR, Battlefield 3 Multiplayer, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag I can actually run at 45-60fps, 50-60fps at sea solid, and on land I'm pushing 45-50+ and I'm finally GPU bound instead of CPU-bound 90% of the time in this game, it also performs perfectly in emulators.

This would be a phenomenal processor as a placebo for an i5 in the future and to get a future proof platform for Devils Canyon or a Broadwell processor, especially if you're coming from a Phenom II or FX Quad Core and you don't mind sacrificing a bit of multi-threading performance for rendering or encoding, and you want some of the best gaming performance possible at such a low price point(check Tom's Hardware, where this takes on the 750K and beats it in every game, both CPUs overclocked), this processor will be fantastic and be the one to get until you can get an i5 or an i7.

"Choosing to celebrate 20 years of Pentium with a fun-packed processor has been a great decision by Intel. The G3258 surpasses expectations for such a low-cost option and really comes into its own when an overclock is applied."
