Fitted with the latest Nvidia GeForce GTX 10 Series GPUs, gaming laptops of the Nvidia line-up utilize the same graphics card technology featured in desktop class graphics cards. Thanks to the advancements in power efficiency, GPU die shrinks and thermal dissipation, Nvidia now uses the same GPUs for both the desktop and laptop gaming platform, with no compromises being made in order to ensure top-tier performance.
Built upon the 16nm FinFet technology of the Pascal architecture, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 ensures power efficiency and high performance. Best suited for 1080p gaming with maximum visual quality and high framerates, the GeForce GTX 1060 also turns in a great experience for gaming at 1440p resolutions as well as VR gaming. As Nvidia’s mid-tier graphics card, the GTX 1060 is available in two different configurations delivering performance improvements over the GTX 970, with a more efficient architecture and feature-set.
Equipped with 1152 cores at 1708MHz, with 3GB of GDDR5 memory running at 8000MHz across a 192-bit Bus for a memory bandwidth rating of 192GB/s. Providing 3.8 TFLOPs of computing power, the first configuration of the GTX 1060 takes full advantage of the Pascal architecture in order to deliver a gaming experience that’s highly power efficient. Featuring 1280 cores with 6GB of GDDR5 memory with all remaining specifications being identical to that of the 3GB model, the second configuration of GTX 1060 proves ideal for gaming at resolutions higher than 1080p.
While the two models of the GTX 1060 differ in memory configurations, there are certain models available which feature faster memory modules. This improvement raises the default memory speed of 8000MHz to 9000MHz, and the 192GB/s memory bandwidth to 216GB/s. Computing power also increases to 4.4 TFLOPs, improving the entire performance of the graphics card.
As the Nvidia GeForce GTX 10 Series graphics cards remain identical between the desktop and laptop platforms, Nvidia no longer uses the “M” nomenclature, meaning Mobile GPUs. This means performance is the same across the platforms, giving way for improved battery life, cooler running laptops, and higher screen resolutions being viable for use. This also allows for improved overclocking features and custom cooling solutions being implemented by the manufacturer. Nvidia’s latest technologies, including GameStream, G-Sync, GameWorks and Battery Boost are all available on the GTX 1060 GPU.
