34GK950F 34" 3440x1440 NANO IPS FreeSync 2 HDR 144Hz 1ms Curved Widescreen LED Monitor

LG UltraGear™ boasts powerful gaming monitors that provide high performance functionality allowing gamers to respond to the challenges of any blockbuster game.

Nano IPS and DCI-P3 98% colour gamut express imaginative colours beyond realistic. In particular, VESA DisplayHDR™ 400 enables dramatic visual immersion with a wide colour gamut and contrast exceeding SDR for all the latest HDR games. Colour calibration helps maintain accurate colour.

A 21:9 aspect ratio combined with a curved screen enhances gaming: gamers can see more information on the FPS game screen for survival, giving an overwhelming and immersive gaming experience. Tone mapping is essential for HDR: it is the heart of cinematic gaming graphics implementation. Radeon FreeSync™ 2 simplifies HDR tone mapping for fast, smooth HDR imaging.

With Radeon FreeSync™ 2 technology gamers can play without worrying about frame loss, it eliminates tearing and stuttering that occurs from the difference between a graphics card’s frame rate and the refresh rate. An high-speed refresh rate of 144Hz allows immediate action on the screen. With 1ms MBR* produces a black image insertion effect by intermittent backlighting, and the effect is similar to doubling the frame changes per second.

The 4-side virtually borderless screen offer the very best in immersive gaming. It also boasts an ergonomically designed V-line stand that can be adjusted to suit any gamer's eye level and stature.

Solid

Okay so this monitor has received alot of flak online because of it's BLB and Glow issues, what people don't realise is the brightness level is set to 100 which is not what you could use normally unless you wear a pair of sunglasses. So most of those problems are greatly exaggerated. Yes IPS glow is a very common trait, my dell U2515 had a very dark grey glow which was exceptionally good, my previous gaming monitors such as XG2703GS (same as the infamous PG279Q) all had glows to a varying degree, there is no way round that you have to accept that unfortunately as part of the UPS tech. BLB on the other hand is factory defect and I am happy that mine is 99.9% BLB free without any dead or stuck pixels.

I turned my brightness down to 21 which is about 150 luminance cd/m2 and calibrated it with spyder express 5, there is a slight glow on bottom left corner about 10cm but that is not noticeable at all unless my screen is complete dark, and even then I am still ok with it, (trust me i have seen many worse with certain ips panels and I am a complete OCD about them).

The wide gamut is OK, it is not too much difference to my XG2703 or dell U2515 to be honest, in fact it is a little too warm for me but if you like your games vivid then these are a treat for your eyes. Make sure you turn off smart saving option as that will adjust your brightness on auto which gave me a scare, cap your FPS to 143 to keep freesync / gsync on for butter smooth gaming.

So overall very happy with the purchase, OCUK is top notch as their reputation precedes them. ordered at 4:30 pm delivered next day on Saturday.

A good all round and capable ultrawide

Pros
+ Vibrant and accurate colours once adjusted, good uniformity across the panel.
+ Subtle curve adds to the general viewing experience makes gaming feel more immersive.
+ Good input lag once the firmware has been updated.
+ 144hz Freesync 2 works perfectly fine with Nvidia G-sync (DisplayPort v1.4).
+ Responsive and easy to navigate OSD controlled by a little 4-way notch.
+ Onscreen control software automates application split screen operations.

Cons
- Only one DisplayPort.
- HDMI spec limits you to a maximum refresh of 85hz@3440x1440.
- HDR mode is underwhelming.
- Onscreen control software is a bit buggy and sometime requires restarting.
- Some unavoidable and inherit IPS issues like glow and back light bleed (this very much varies between panels, aka the panel lottery).
- Ever so slight image motion smearing (if you previously gamed on a real fast TN panel you will probably notice the most).
