Good Display

I purchased one of these panels last week.
The current monitor prices are insane and i had a difficult choice to make between higher resolution, refresh rate, screen size and aspect ratio.

I went for a higher refresh rate and screen size and ended up with this screen.

Overall the pixels on this screen are 0.031 mm larger than my previous screen and although you can tell the difference it isn't bad.

The compromise on resolution is worth it for the larger screen size and refresh rate. Also 21x9 is amazing and great for gaming especially with freesync.

I would recommend this screen to anyone who prioritizes gaming, it also isn't bad for productivity. The only down side is the resolution.

Great screen - Would highly recommend

This wasn't the first ultrawide screen I have tried but it's the one I have been most happy with. Just to explain...

I originally had an iiyama Prolite GB2773HS which is a 27" 144hz monitor. It is now quite old but it served me well.

Deciding it was time to change, I first tried an Acer Predator Z35 (Not bought from Overclockers). I had the screen for about 3 days at which point I decided I just couldn't stand the design of it and although when playing games it couldn't be faulted. The colour and contrast of the screen weren't great out of the box although I'm sure with a bit of fiddling, it could be improved dramatically.

After sending it back I decided to try the LG34UC98. I'm not the world's biggest gamer although I enjoy playing Battlefield or World of Warships for an hour or two in the evenings and at weekends. I had hoped that the 60hz maximum refresh rate of this screen wouldn't dent my gaming enjoyment too much but quickly realized that going from 144hz to 60hz was just too much of a compromise. The higher resolution of this screen (3440x1440) also killed the frame rates. My PC isn't the latest and greatest but my GTX1070 really struggled. The final nail in the coffin for this screen was the experience of using this screen in the windows environment. I honestly don't know how people comfortably use a 13440x1440 resolution screen in Windows. All the icons and desktop buttons are so tiny. I did turn up the dpi which helped a lot but this in turn messed up all the layouts of the websites I edit in Dreamweaver.

After sending this screen back, I thought I would try one last screen and I am very glad I did.

The design of the LG UC79G is far more subtle and attractive. It has a sensible stand that feels rock solid and the design of the stand made it much easier to hide the wires.

The screen itself was much better to look at than the two previous screens. I don't understand why reviewers concern themselves about the lower number of pixels (2560x1080) as the desktop environment all looks crystal clear and sharp. I did need to fiddle with the colours and contrast a little but I now have it exactly how I like it.

The gaming experience is excellent as well. I haven't bothered turning on the option within the screen's menu to lower the response time as it runs so well at 144hz on the standard screen setting. I can't say I notice any input lag at all and it goes without saying that the extra width is more immersive.

The only thing I wouldn't necessarily recommend this screen for is any professional video creator or photographer that needs to be pinpoint accurate with colours and contrast. For everyone else, I'd recommend it.

On a separate note. Overclockers have used DPD courier service to deliver my screens to Northamptonshire. They are a great courier who send an email the morning of delivery giving a 1hr delivery slot. It helps you to plan your day without having to wait in all day.

Overclockers themselves have also been faultless. Will certainly add them to my top 3 online retailers.
