The UltraWide 21:9 aspect ratio makes movies and games more immersive than ever. Need to get some work done, too? All of that UltraWide real estate makes it easy to view multiple documents at the same time, so you don't need to flip back and forth between them.

The 3440X1440 UltraWide QHD display offers amazingly sharp picture quality. Its pixel area is about 1.8 times larger than an UltraWide Full HD 21:9 monitor, and about 2.4 times larger than a Full HD 16:9 monitor. It provides an efficient environment in using Microsoft Office programs showing 47 columns and 63 rows in excel.

sRGB is the standard color space of ideal color reproduction. So, with over 99% coverage of the sRGB spectrum, this LG monitor is a great solution for professional photographers, graphic designers or anyone looking for highly accurate color.

Multitasking doesn't have to mean shuffling back and forth between windows*. With a single click, the 4-Screen Split feature divides the screen into as many as four customizable segments, two-by-two. Now you can see four different windows at the same time.

The Dual Linkup feature allows two compatible portable devices--such as a computer, camera, phone, or Blu-ray player--to be connected to the monitor, and both can be viewed on the same screen simultaneously.

This monitor's Thunderbolt input/output port allows you to connect up to six compatible devices, moving data between them with incredible speed. The two channels of 10-gigabits-per-second throughput in both directions are up to 20X faster than USB 2.0. Thunderbolt is an exciting innovation for both expansion and premium video display.

The DisplayPort digital video interface is used to connect a high-performance video source to a high-resolution monitor. Thanks to its sophisticated design, a DisplayPort cable can also be used to carry audio, USB signals and other data as well.

LG’s LED backlighting delivers exceptional brightness and amazing image clarity. You'll see richer colors and deeper blacks too, and LEDs offer greater energy efficiency compared to conventional LCD monitors.

Mr Rathbone

I gotta say had my doubts about this screen with alot of people mentioning the bad back light bleed and i will say yes it does suffer from backlight bleed if you have the brightness about 70% i have mine at 45% and its plenty bright enough to view the screen with the sun beaming in. I can only see the light bleed when im staring at a blank black screen it not noticeable while gaming which is why i brought this screen the immersivness in gaming is incredible ive had nvidia surround and this is the same only there's no black bezels breaking up the picture and the picture thats extra isnt stretched like the side monitors in a surround setup. I will say the only downfall to this monitor is not the monitor itself but the power of the pc it needs to show its potential. I couldnt be happier with it and its now my pride and joy of my gaming setup :D

Incredible upgrade!

I used to use a 1920x1080 TA monitor on my computer, and this has been an upgrade in every sense of the word. The colour reproduction of this IPS monitor is immense! Games look extremely life-like and at the same time, colour-rich. The contrast is beautiful. It is even beneficial for my astrophotography post-processing, given the large amount of contrast shown.

Together with the IPS panel comes the huge 3440x1440 resolution, in 21:9 and at 34". The sharpness even just looking at text on-screen is incredible but this truly stands out in games. The immense field of view provided by the 21:9 display eliminates the need for triple monitor setups (as this gives you an excellent result and with no bezels!). Together with the 3440x1440 resolution, games look very sharp. Coupled with the vividness of the IPS colour reproduction, this monitor is something to behold. Productivity on the desktop and in applications is also incredibly improved with the huge working area.

I would like to address two concerns with IPS panel monitors:

1. Response time and refresh rate: This monitor has a setting for overdrive on response time. "Medium" is the absolute best setting and provides an extremely smooth experience, even at 60Hz. I'm sure exceeding competitive gamers would not deal with anything below 120Hz, but this monitor has so much to offer that you'll soon forget about 120Hz and G-Sync.
2. Backlight bleeding: This is a common issue with monitors and early batches of this monitor have been apparently plagued with it. Mine has a tiny little bit of backlight bleeding from the bottom left corner but not much to speak of, especially with my preferred Brightness setting of "50". IPS glow is also present but this is perfectly normal. You soon to get to these and appreciate the features of this IPS monitor. Having the monitor an eye-level and at a usual viewing distance avoids much of the viewing issues.

Overall I highly recommend this monitor over any 1080p, 1440p or 4K monitor, given the combination of the best features you'd want in a monitor, be it for gaming or productivity.

bleeeeed!!!

Well i am on my second one of these in 2 weeks, and the issue is the back light bleed in each corner.
Apart from that i love this monitor.....but i'm sad to say i can't live with the bleed as it is the worst i have seen on any panel i have had.....and i have had a few over the years.

Apparently LG are aware of the problem, as its the frame causing pressure on the actual panel......but they still churn these out without testing them first which is ridiculous considering how much these Monitors are?

after a rocky start, I'm in love

Firstly I had many issue's with the monitor, computer would post but then lock up leaving "no signal" on the display. I had to hard reset every time this happened.
I blamed the supplied dp cable and binned it, ordered a display port certified hbr2 cable from startech.
I also found nvidia had released a hotfix driver to fix all the issues I was having, either way hotfix driver plus new cable and I have zero issues.
I found the brightness setting far too high far my room, I actually have it set at 0% now which is just right and reduced any backlight bleed to a minimum. Note I said backlight bleed not ips glow, no getting around that.
I run it on gtx 970, I've set pixel response to high and cannot detect any negative ghosting or input lag.
The picture quality, resolution and field of view immersion are stunning. I was having a hard time choosing between this and the asus rog gsync monitor. I previously used an ips panel and don't think I could go back to tn picture quality. Overall I'm very happy with my decision.

Hopefully a keeper

This monitor does have issues but on the whole its just WOW
Like another reviewer I'm having some random problems with the panel turning on when starting windows, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't and will need to be unplugged from the mains along with a computer restart.
One thing that wasn't clear to me is that there is a driver for the monitor on one of the supplied cd-roms (I never bother with cd-roms, usually visit the website and download drivers/tools) the driver isn't listed anywhere on the support section of the LG website, it was only through trawling an owners thread I came across it. Anyhow I have managed to install the driver, it wasn't plain sailing let me tell you but now device manager reports LG instead of Generic PnP. I'll see if this has helped with the "No Signal" issue.
Next up backlight bleed, yes it has some. I expect every 34UM95 out there has some to some extent, the backlight setting that it ships with 50% is way too high IMO. Setting it to 30-35% help alleviate the backlight bleed to the point where when gaming I really don't notice it. If I go looking for it I will find it however.
Input lag, too me its no better or worse than my Dell 2412 which is also an IPS panel. I'm happy enough in this regard, my personal tolerance to input lag is probably average, I can tell when V-Sync is on causing lag and I dont like it but the screen doesn't seem to cause me any issues.
And now for the good stuff, colours, resolution, immersiveness and wow factor all fab! trust me 21:9 is the new black.
People wondering how much horse-power you need to run this display as I was before buying it, a single GTX 970 or 980 would do you fine for the most part on well established games. Games like FC4 at the time of writing well hmm maybe 6-7 cards would get you where you want to be! I'm running 970 sli, I mainly play BF4 and I have actually underclocked both cards as far as I can and limited the frame rate to 75 with Nvidia inspector. Unrestricted, non overclocked Asus strix'es net me over 100 fps with ultra & 4xmsaa :)

Shame

Very nice panel, but apart from the widely reported back light bleed lottery, my monitor seemed to have issues with wake from sleep on the displayport input, i.e. it wouldn't wake from sleep 50% of the time. It also seemed to confuse osx and windows when wake from sleep did work as they'd both think the screen was lower res just long enough to move all my desktop icons/windows into the top of the screen.

With regret mine went back.

Almost but not quite :(

I so wanted to keep this monitor but it had to go back I'm afraid. Colours were great, build quality was top drawer, size and the 21:9 format are perfect. So why did it go back? Input lag or screen tearing you can have one or the other.

I don't know why but the input lag on this screen is so bad (bearing in mind I was coming for a very average Samsung T240 with a 5ms response time). It was so bad I had to turn v-sync off in the end as it was making me feel ill. This cured the lag and ill feeling but now you get screen tearing which, with this being so wide and beautiful, sticks out like a sore thumb. Mine also had a small amount of backlight bleed in both the bottom corners. Which I could have lived with if it wasn't for the above.

Any sort of FPS even if you're not competitive and only play for fun now and again you should avoid 34UM95.
Other titles say like any of the Total War series look stunning and work VERY well even with v-sync on.
Films look fantastic as well.

If ONLY it had g-sync or was 120hz or both, it would be PERFECT.

So think carefully about what you are going to use this monitor for I did very nearly keep it but fortunately head over ruled the heart this time round.

50/50

I bought this monitor to use with my workstation and the screen real estate you get is magnificent. The colour, sharpness and viewing angles are great, but unfortunately that's where it ends.
I am not a serious gamer, but even I can tell the lag is bad. Even noticeable when watching movies as you can see juddering in slow moving scenes. Also the back light bleeding you get in all four corners is pretty bad as it makes the blacks look washed out.
For the price of the monitor, I could live with the lag as it is not advertised as a gaming monitor, but the back light issue is a pretty poor problem to have that you may expect on a

Stunning Monitor - Immersive gaming

Had this Monitor a couple of weeks now and its one of the best upgrades i'v ever made. I went from a 24 inch 144hz BenQ to this and the difference is incredible. Even compared to the 4k screens iv seen the 21:9 aspect ratio really makes this screen stand out and there's no way I could ever go back to 16:9 after this.
I was worried about downgrading back to 60hz but it hasn't bothered me at all and the 3440x1440 resolution makes up for that.

Being an IPS panel the colours are stunning and using my i1 Display Pro I was able to calibrate it to 6501k and it looks incredible.

I didn't have room for a 3 monitor setup and I always hated the bezels in the middle so this was the perfect choice.

The ultrawide aspect ratio takes games to a new level and I can honestly say gives you a bigger wow factor than going for a 16:9 4k screen.
Having that extra screen space at the sides just makes everything much more immersive no matter what type of games you enjoy but driving games in particular are on a whole other level compared to 16:9.

The hardware LUT is great for an easy calibration and you can get the LG calibrator for around

Must have for any Prosumer

As title suggests, if you are a professional that does work from home this monitor is the way forward.

I absolutely love this monitor, I've had it for 2 months now - best purchase I've made for my new set-up.

The screen display is breathtaking! Honestly the extra screen space to work with is worth every penny!

I have a nice arm that fits the built in VESA 100mm mounts (no adaptor needed) so I don't use the supplied stand.
However people have reported that monitor vibrates/shakes when on the stand just by hard typing or resting elbows on table.
FYI the stand only supports two heights which are fixed, so it's not really height adjustable either!

I don't play games on my pc so can't really comment on that however movies look superb!

Finally this is pretty much the first time I've wrote a review on something, I guess that alone should tell you how highly I think of this monitor.

PS I had to reject my original order as the edges had a lot of little marks on them (bad quality control so look out for that!!) OcUK understood my gripes and were more than happy to send out a replacement - so 10/10 to them too!

A good upgrade

I decided my 3 monitor setup was getting old (two of the screens were 13 year old Dell LCDs) and usually quite a lot of power.

Chose this monitor after seeing a few reviews and comparing to 4K monitors. From what I've seen and read 4K is great and looks super sharp, but the 4K resolution makes everything really small. So you end up making things bigger defeating the point of the 4K.

This monitor is the compromise. Coming from the 3 screens I'm used to having different programs on different screens and coming back to one takes a bit of getting used to. It does come with an app that lets you split up the screen into 2, 3 or 4 and more combinations of splitting the screen up. It works but if you have for example a small chat window and move it, the app maximises it to the size of the screen area it's in. I stopped using it and just use Windows ability to drag things to the edges of the screen to split into two monitors.

I do a lot of editing edit Premier and now there is all this SPACE. I can get more timeline in view, all sorts of extra windows up at once it's great.

Films look great as well, no black bars as it's cinema widescreen.

Games. I only play Battlefield 4 so it's all I can comment on. Running at full 3440 x 1440 on my 7870 I get a bit of tearing, but I'm not sure if that's because I'm using the HDMI (I use the DisplayPort for the editing rig). Really I should gets Fraps installed and see what FPS it does.

In conclusion if you need space to work this monitor is ideal.
