Compact and Simple

Not quite the same as the image shown as of May 2014: the actual LG GP50 is square with no cut off corner. It is however slim, light, and powered entirely off USB, as expected. Doesn't seem to need the software/driver disk that comes with it, and Windows 7 is just fine managing the drive unassisted. Should be bootable, depending on your BIOS/UEFI options.

It's clearly designed to be as light as possible, and isn't particularly rigid - but it does do what it says on the tin, i.e. reads and burns DVDs. Being essentially a laptop drive in a caddy, it shares the tendency to get a bit noisy when writing, but as usual makes very little noise when just playing DVD films.

Perfect for when you don't want dedicate space in your desktop for an optical drive that you won't use often, or for a laptop that doesn't have one built in.

My only concern with it is the slightly flimsy feel of it, but that's just something which adds to it; it's really light and small, thus really no nuisance to carry around. It'll just slot right into your laptop back.

Seeing as its only 'flaw' really only adds to it, I can't justify deducting any stars. Highly recommended.
