RMA'd and improved

So after my magnetic recharging cable clip assembly failed on me I finally RMA'd it (not from OCZ) and I was sent a new one.

This is nearly exactly a year on from when I first bought this and things have improved.

Firstly the gap lines are now much tighter on this mouse than my previous X8. The tolerances are much closer.

The run lines are still present on the silver venturi style back on the mouse (where the non existent blue light emits in the photo above)

The recharging unit now has barely no sag under its own cable weight what so ever. The mouse recharges first time everytime, and now I can game and charge and work wirelessly, all with no lag.

This new X8 feels alot more accurate to the move and its a nicer feel all around. I've gotten used to its size now, and considering its price (1/2 of a Razer Mamba) I'd say this was good value for money and a great performer. I can't imagine the Mamba is 100% better than this at the price.

Terrible, and getting worse

When I first got this mouse I found it huge to my hand. My hand is 22cm in diameter.

After a couple weeks it got more comfy, but I still had a nagging ache from my little/ring finger area where it felt crampt.

The finish is awful, mine having nasty run marks on the silver finished venturi style tunnels. It also has horrible gap lines allowing the red glow to leak through.

The accuracy is ok, but I've seen it creep on its own mysteriously..

The buttons all feel fine however, and I like the mouse wheel, DPI adjusters and esp thumb buttons.

The WORST thing about this mouse is the recharging unit. When clipped on if you press the clip it actually rocks on its mount 1mm that disconnects the charge. I thought this was with forward movement where the cord is compressed, but the clip just sags under its own weight and disconnects charging. Id need to tape it on to get a proper charge and I definitely can't use it and charge it at the same time. Gutted and very disappointed from Microsoft

Good but may take some getting used to

At first this mouse takes some getting used to and may require you to get used to repositioning your hand to support the design of the mouse which took me a few weeks. However once you get used to this and you hand falls naturaly into place everything is just where you want it to be.

The build is solid and the battries provide a nice weight to it..... Just about right imo as I like a slightly heavier mouse. Tracks well and the recharge while you play system is awesome. Very nice scroll wheel and I like the positive click and feel as it turns.

Only negative from my point of view is that the main left and right buttons require more presure to hold down than I'm used to after a G5 and this did ache my hand for a while. Again this is just something you get used to and doesn't bother me to much any more.

Be aware that you can't use two of these things close together as they all use the same frequency and have a long range.

All in all a well thought out mouse with nice features.

Great mouse

The best mouse I ever had. It came to replace my old Logitech MX900, and it does it awesomely. Way lighter, stunning design, confortable, precise and configurable. Battery life is very long, haven't had to plug it since I bough it, but if I had to, the power cord desgin is ideal. No extra power needed, all from USB, on/off button under the mouse to save battery, no dalay when switched on, I mean, i am very happy with it.
