Get 7

Get Win 7, it works, that simple.

Vista has been a TOTAL living hell. Random driver failure, services & programs randomly fail to function, performance non-existent, the list is endless. Anyone that says that Vista was acceptable is out of their cotton picking mind.

I have been running win7 on my PC from the second day it came out. Microsoft got it right this time. They had to.

Ditch XP if your PC is up to 7. If your PC is up to Vista then you'll get a huge performance & stability boost from it.

Lastly, the full retail version is NOT locked to your motherboard so you can upgrade & carry the licence across & stay legal when you upgrade a PC. OEM can't be transferred so a few quid now means you don't need to buy another copy when you do a new build to replace the old box or whatever.

I'm giving this product 3 stars and here's why. although I haven't got it on my system yet i've used it a lot, and I want to buy it, because like everyone else here said ''IT'S GREAT'' I give it 5 stars.

However I can't help but be annoyed that people hated on Vista so much that Microsoft just ditched it and made win 7 which is EXACTLY the same framework, just with a few tweaks. While those tweaks make a big difference, I forked out a hundred for Vista only a year or so ago.

Vista works fine, just has resource problems, and people hated on it without really trying it enough to mean that us Vista owners got forgotten, while xp got another service pack at a similar time.

While the product is great and I'm just complaing because I got burnt, after Vista I have no faith in the longevity of O.S's any more, xp lasted 10 years or so, Vista 2 or 3? We should have been give free upgrades.

Buy it, it's better than Vista by far, but if you owned Vista you've got a right to be miffed.

Totally Worth it

Combined with the W7 RC I've been using it for about 9 months and still discovering something new every week. W7 is an operating system you can depend on, it has all the glitz and glamour that vista promised but without the resource hogging element. I have install this on a few old systems e.g: a 3.0GHZ P4 with a 128mb Graphics Gard and all the GUI featues work perfectly and smooth. Also remarkably I installed it on a very old laptop running a an old 1.6Ghz CPU with basic onboard graphics, it set itself up, turning off some of the GUI features and with 256mb RAM it performs better than XP.
The way in which W7 uses and manages system resource is the Key I think. Also installs almost any driver e.c.t automatically with no drama. Plus programes that can only be used with previous orperating systems can be installed using the Compatibility Mode. It really is worth the investment and can't fail to impress.

Pleasantly Surprised

I've been using windows XP for 7 years and never bothered updating to Vista after hearing about how bad it was.

I've never been a fan of change, and didn't want to leave XP, but reading reviews I started to think twice.

Been using it for a couple of weeks now and I am impressed. Very easy to use, very good features and on the whole an excellent OS.Managed to download drivers for everything and software is working fine.

If you're still wondering whether or not Windows 7 is worth upgrading to, I can't see any reason why you wouldn't want to.

OC Five Stars again

I had been using the RC version of Win 7, but with the new added bonus of my pc resarting every 2 hours decided it was time to bite the bullet.
I purchased Windows 7 from OC and as always product was delivered on time and well packaged!
PS: windows 7 rocks my socks off!

Lee 2010-03-24

Well, i put off getting vista because it was bad, win7 however is terrific. its fast in windows, everything loads fast. startup is half the time of vista and when the desktop loads up its ready to go no waiting. i love it. dx11 compatible aswell all good.

Can't give 5 stars to a product that simply puts right a release that should have worked nearly 3 years ago, but it is decent and absolutely worth the plunge - especially at

This has to be one of the best OS' I've ever used. It works flawlessly with everything, and I LOVE the new taskbar.

To top it all off I got this for free being a student stuying I.T at college!

Superb OS

Wow. Having been somewhat reluctant to switch from XP Pro (which I dual-boot with now), I can honestly say that I'm really impressed with 7 - it just works. Unlike Vista.

Took a while to install due to a few reports of 'corrupt/missing' files (the trick seems to be to unplug pretty much everything, inc USB devices) but apart from that, no problems.

Even the somewhat problematic Sapphire HD3850 AGP card installed without a hitch.

Highly recommended product, and delivered next-day thanks to OcUK!

genuinely great os

just like the other reviewer who's always chose the 'cheaper' method of obtaining software, i too have held out on genuine products until now. windows7 is the first operating system from microsoft and first piece of software ive ever paid for and im loving it so far. theres been a few quirks n things not working as expected first time round but the pro's far outweigh the con's here.
i never bothered with windows vista having heard a fair few people had problems with it or it ran too slow on low-mid quality machines and xp still did what i needed it to at the time. the jump from xp to this is awesome though and its probably a good jump from vista as well. highly recommended.

We have a winner

I'll just be straight up honest with you, apart from the last OEM version of XP I received with my computer. I've never actually purchased a copy of Windows, torrents were just an easier, and of course, a cheaper option.

However, I truly think Microsoft have outshone themselves with this one and deserve the support with it.. so I was more than willing to make a contribution.

Money definitely well spent in my opinion! (this is coming from someone who hasn't bought a genuine peice of software in his life, period.)

Nice and fresh OS

Windows 7 look nicely and very polish from Vista - one thing I like is the jump list that make you so easy include Aero Peek also there are lots of features you would spend to check. The boot up timing took so fast in my PC which about 25seconds also nice look on boot up screen that lots better than Vista old green bar scrolling - go and buy one- you wont regret it!!

Great Microsfot OS

I got Windows 7 Home Premium off Overclockers last week, great service once again!

This is Microsoft's best OS since XP, and is infinitely faster and smoother to use than Vista ever wasn't. Games and applications now load up much faster and Media Player tracks play in half the time it takes on Vista. Overall its a much smoother OS for games too, I'm running Tomb Raider Underworld and COD4 both sikly smooth.

Overall this is the most impressive OS Microsoft has dished out in years, and its totally worth buying. The Home Premium is great as it also comes with 2 discs, so you have the option to install the 32 bit or 64 bit versions.

In short buy it!!!

So Glad I Got This

Im so glad i got this OS. It's a huge difference from vista. I bought Vista ultimate from OC a while ago and was nervous about moving OS's so soon. Lets just say im not worried anymore. I did a clean Install and everything just worked!!!
It even installed the creative sound card control panel for me!!

such a great OS, very quick and uses far less resources that vista. If your inbetween whether to get it or not just get it, you will no be dissapointed. Well done MS for a change and well done OC for snappy delivery!

5 stars!!!

Mitch 2009-10-24

Worth it

I have been using the Beta version for ages. Bought this one on the strength of the Beta and I am not disappointed. It's brilliant; fast, reliable and not a resource hog.
Buy it now.

Win7 equals Win

I have just ordered this now after seeing it shoot up by

Jarvis 2009-10-23

Worth the wait

I now have Windows 7 and it is one amazing OS from the people at Microsoft.

Its so stable and not a memory hog. Windows 7 RC is more stable than Vista SP1 and that's saying something. It's also quite nippy and overall I love it.

Windows XP is quite old now and we can't hold on to it forever, now is the time to make the move!

TheUnknown 2009-10-21

I can't believe it, I will get it on Oct

I pre-ordered 2 weeks ago and got notified that it has been shipped today (Oct 11).
I can't understand why OC bad reviews elsewhere. They meet my expectation.

Christophe C 2009-10-21

Full version

A great price!

Also I checked with customer support and this is the full retail version and not the upgrade retail version.

David 2009-10-21

Ordered my Win7 retail Monday night and like a fool I chose Royal Mail not thinking about the strike on Thursday. OC staff picked up on this and shipped my Win7 via another service so I get Win7 on time.

WOW, this is why I choose OC over everyone else. Great forward thinking.

Well done guys.

Nigel 2009-10-21

Best OS since Xp

Been using Windows 7 RC for about 3 months.

Have to say Im very impressed.

My copy is ordered.

This is what vista should of been.

Calvin Stump 2009-10-09

What an Amazing OS

I installed the RC version of 7 on my raptor and tried a variety of games and programmes (new and old!) on it for around a week so and having NOT one bug or issue with it I decided to take the plunge and install it on my Intel X25 SSD (80Gb) which could have been a real problem if the OS decided to break....but nearly 3weeks later and what can I say IM Gobsmacked Microsoft!

Ive tested a variety of programmes NOT made for 7 with just Beta drivers or indeed ones just for Vista and theres not been a single problem.

One other thing I would say ppl is I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and this is a known fact regarding Vista in it slows the Boot time down 20-40secs even on SSD's.

Pre Vista boot on my sys with std kb is around 45secs, with the G15 this increases to around 75-85secs!
With 7 and the G15 plugged in....get this 35secs! and thats from powering on the pc to desktop! I kid you not.

Needless to say ive pre ordered a copy

W7 l33t

I have been using Windows 7 RC for a while now and I have to say it is a huge step in the right direction.
Yes, it is essentially a stripped down version of Vista (stripped of the hoard of memory hogging applications) but the speed and compatibility so far are a joy to behold. Even before final release it is better than Vista64 after a service pack!
I'll be getting the final version when it gets here - you can count on it.

3quilibrium 2009-08-05

got this on pre order
and as i only have xp the OC tech guys recommended i tried out the windows7 release candidate on my new I7 rig instead of putting xp on there
if w7 rc is anything to go by then w7 will be a real triumph :)
