Very good laptop for the price

I bought this laptop about 2 weeks ago and so far I've been very impressed with it.
I was not looking for a desktop replacement, but instead something that I can use at university and when I travel around.
Great 1080p screen which was one of the features I was looking for on a laptop.
Boots up in less than 15 seconds now with Windows 8.1 (Although it was a pain in the a** to get it to 8.1)
Very smooth running many demanding programs at once, runs most games you throw at it, although you may need to sacrifice some quality for higher fps (baring in mind this isn't really a super gaming laptop by any means). So far I've played games like CS: GO, COD4, BF3, League of Legends most of them at 1080p in high settings, lower resolution for BF3.
Great storage size 1TB 7200 RPM (No SSD sadly but there is a way of replacing the Blu-Ray player with an adapter so you can fit one if you'd like! Warranty may be voided so do if you wish xD)

However if I were to give this laptop 5* it would only be if its battery life was higher. At most in power saving mode I'd say you could get 4 hours tops on this laptop which can be inconvenient.

Plus, if it were possible for this model to come with a GPU such as the GT 760M or higher, I'd definitely be happy to spend an extra 100 quid on the price I paid at the time (

A lot of power for the price but comprom

I received this laptop as a Christmas gift to help me with my Uni work. First impression were good, a light robust and high spec machine.

Within a few days it started crashing, something to do with a fatal video error. Naturally I preceded to ensure that everything was up-to-date, drier, bios etc. but still I was having spontaneous crashes, although I haven't had one for a few days now and hope that the system has fixed itself.

The next noticable issue is the fan noise. It can be really annoying when trying to work in quiet environments such as a Library or classroom, an issue that should be addressed in the next bios update I feel.

The plastic exterior has a brushed steel effect to it and looks quite nice, however the chassis sometimes creaks and vibrates, and overall build quality could be improved.

Design wise, the full keyboard is a bonus and the spaces between the keys are still quite liberal and forgiving, alternate function keys are in sensible places (volume and brightness on the arrow keys), but I feel more efficient keys in the quick access panel could launch more useful tools and applications as I very rarely find myself needing to use them for their default purpose.

Overall, a good quality laptop capable of running games at a sensible frame-rate, performing a variety of high demanding tasks simultaneously and a portability value that shouldn't be overlooked.
