GeForce GTX 980 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980/970 is powered by the next generation NVIDIA Maxwell Architecture, giving you incredible performance, unmatched power efficiency, and cutting-edge features.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Get VR Ready with GeForce® GTX.
GeForce® GTX graphics cards provide a powerful next-generation platform for the ultimate immersive virtual reality experience. Immersive VR requires seven times the graphics processing power of traditional 3D apps and games. NVIDIA's unique set of features-such as multi-res shading-mean you get the right level of performance, image quality, and latency to ensure your VR experience is nothing short of amazing.

Good card

After having this card for 4 months I want to say it was a good upgrade from 760 sli. I got no coil whine, it was quite, overclocked like a god and did not get very hot. However I am going to be upgrading to a msi 980ti as it seems to be the better choice

Great Card

I bought this card to move away from AMD, always been AMD fan. I am not disappointed!

Such a fast card; even on Witcher 3 on Ultra the Temps do not seem to get above 60 degrees! Very quiet card and fans rarely run up to be fair on most things I do. Smashes everything I throw at it.

It is so good looking to get another when the price drops a bit ;-)

Seriously fast card

Originally looking at an SLi setup for the GTX970 but went for the 980 to slot into my Gaming 5 mainboard... Yes its an expensive card but I honestly believe you get what you pay for (plus happier now knowing the 970 is sold short on fast RAM)...

The single card runs anything at full ultra at 1080p.. Not owning a UHD monitor I run it at full res DSR & all games still hit high FPS, aside from METRO but thats down to the game engine not the card... I know this as I have now got two of these cards in SLi & still have the same issues...

Anyway, no such thing as a future proof graphics card but this will hold off future upgrades for a long time... If you are unsure just buy it, you'll not be disappointed.

Throttling at 62c

This card is very quiet under load, you can barely hear it at all even at 100% fan speed. But there's one thing this card was doing is at 62c the card starts to downclock it's self. Now, this is not how the card is suppose to perform. The temperature is low and the fans spool up at 61c so throttling at 62c is beyond me. It should be behaving like this at 81c.

I'm going to replace this card with the G1 Gaming, I wouldn't buy a MSI graphics card again.

Awesome power

My whole system needed upgrading from a Q6600 & GTX580 as I wanted to play Farcry 4 in ultra settings, it ran o.k in a mix of mostly medium & high settings. I took the decision to upgrade the graphix first so I got one of these fantastic 980's & wow! I can play on all ultra settings inc tree relief & fur although I admit FPS are mostly 30 -45 but it looks fluid enough to me considering my CPU falls below minimum specs for FC4.
I now obviously need to upgrade the CPU/mobo & memory to ramp up the FPS when funds allow

Excellant Graphics Card (s)

Bought 2 of these to work in SLI, working flawlessly and as you can imagine very fast. Running everything maxed out at the cards normal "Gaming" Clock Speeds, not even tried the cards "OC" speed yet which bumps the clock speed up a bit more. Also when running games such as Farcry 4 with every graphics options turned on or at its highest and running in 2160x1440 resolution @ 144hz, the 2 GTX980's are virtually silent but still giving me over 100fps. Love these MSI graphics cards.

hehehe........ great !!!

A worthwhile Upgrade

Previously I was using a GTX680 , the 980 is a significant step up, Ive been able to get about 115 to 120 fps (over that if nothings really going on) in BF4, I think the average is over 90 on my system. I used, to see for a proper in depth review, in the latter part they have comparisons to other cards, since I was able to sell my old card making this cheaper its was defiantly worth the upgrade. It came with a free mouse matt that cool.

Low noise, low heat and low power consumption. The fans don't even turn on when the card isn't under load, perfect for what I need.

I had a 780ti that had coil whine which I got refunded and i'm so glad I did. This card was definitely worth the wait, cost less than the 780ti and is more efficient. (the faulty card wasn't from OCUK)

Fast delivery, no problem at all, could track the order all the way to my house. Will definitely be ordering more from OCUK in the future.

Awesome next level card!

I recently upgraded to the 980 from a gtx 770 (msi equivalent). My reasoning for this was because it kept regularly dropping to 50fps in game on max ultra 1080p and was quite annoying while playing. I sold that card and upgraded to the 980 and have not looked back! it performs so awesome.

I firstly started off by testing it on battlefield 4 on ultra 1080p like i did on the 770 and it plays so well. FPS counter in game shows it plays at around 120fps while in the big fights (64 players) and around 160+fps when running/looking around the map. Its just an awesome step from my 770. this was pushing 50-70fps overclocked while in big fights and around 80fps running/looking around the map. Best part is ive only ran the 980 card on overclock mode using the gaming app and not put more mhz and increased the memory speeds on afterburner so im sure it can go for more performance.

The card keeps really cool in game and runs at about 55-60c on battlefield 4 using auto fan adjustments. not to mention it also nice and quiet even on 100% fan load. The card itself just looks amazing with the LED logo and dragon on the front of the GPU and the awesome MSI red and black design, stunning :).

I have also tried the 2715x1527 dsr setting to basically render at that resolution and then downscale to 1080p so it looks like 2715x1527. And boy it looks good! a big bonus too is it still runs at 60-70fps on overclock mode im guessing 80+ fps with a nice overclock on the card and memory. however it runs below 60fps on the 4k setting which is to be expected as even nvidia said you need 980 SLI for a comfortable playing experience at 4k.

overall i am very happy with this card and doubt i will be upgrading it for a good few years to come.

A pretty powerful card

So far it's handled everything I've thrown at it quite gracefully. I've got it powering my new 1440p 144Hz monitor, and Dota 2, CSGO and L4D2 all ran at max settings at a constant 144fps with gsync enabled. The latter barely broke 50% gpu usage. What surprised me though was that Planetside 2 on near-max settings was still getting 100fps+ with gsync on.

It's also pretty much silent; I can barely hear it over the quiet hum of my 1200rpm case fans. The fans on the card actually spin down completely if utilization is low and it's below 50C. The highest I saw it under heavy load was around 65C, which is only a few degrees higher than what my old card idled at.

Power-wise it draws about the same as my 2011 HD6950 did, so not a lot.

The only bad thing I can say about the card is the price tag, but if you want a card for 1440p gaming, it's definitely up to the task.

Very happy

Just bought this to replace my 780 Ti, not much of an upgrade as my Ti was a bit of a beast overclocked on water. on air this hits 71c after an hours Valley loop on stock voltage with the core at 1520 , 7600 on the memory. hit just shy of 6800 on fire strike extreme. actually like it so much ive just bought a 2nd. the only let down ive had with this card is that it did not come with the usual bag of haribo thrown in... Sod the free mouse mat. wheres my haribo Overclockers?????
