Great value 144Hz 1440p display

I purchased this monitor as an upgrade to my existing 24" 1080p 144Hz panel, as I wanted something larger, with more vibrant colours whilst retaining the high refresh rate. I was debating an IPS panel, but read various stories regarding IPS glow and back light bleed that put me off. I had read that VA panels were prone to suffer from ghosting and slow response times, but I thought I would take a chance with this VA-based panel from MSI, as various reviews suggested they had managed to reduce response times and ghosting right down.

The panel itself feels significantly larger than my old 24" panel, and is certainly more vivid. The colours really "pop" in all the games/applications I have tried, and ghosting is non-issue. I have had no issues with input lag - indeed I couldn't tell any difference between this panel and my own TN panel - and the various games I have tested the panel with (Apex, CS:GO, Battlefield V, Rocket League) have exhibited no visual artefacts, ghosting, overshoot etc. You can see some ghosting if you use testing apps specifically designed to spot it (i.e. UFO test), but nothing that you actually notice whilst gaming.

The only negatives - I have experienced slight colour banding despite my best attempts to calibrate the panel, but have been informed that this has been fixed in a recent firmware update by MSI. I am hoping this will rectify the issue completely, but as things stand it is not a major problem. There is also slight clouding when the screen is entirely blank, but cannot be noticed as soon as anything is being displayed on the screen itself.

All LCD panels have trade offs somewhere - TN panels are washed out with poor viewing angles, IPS suffer from IPS glow and back light bleed, and VA panels have historically been prone to ghosting and smearing. MSI seem to have resolved this major weakness of the VA panel, leaving you with an excellent panel with very few weaknesses. Given what I know now about this monitor, I would certainly buy it again.

Amazing Monitor!

Amazing monitor! HUGE upgrade from my old 1080p Samsung monitor. It's also great value for a 1440p 144hz curved monitor. The stand is sturdy and very well built, its also quite large.

Great Value

I have purchased this monitor to replace my Benq GL2450 which was a great monitor. The reason for upgrade was due to wanting to make the most out of the extra fps my pc is capable of over the 60 of the Benq. The build and aesthetics of the monitor are very good. The picture is really smooth and crisp. The setup menu isn't too complicated and the rear joystick is simple to use. I can't comment on the stand as i have mine on a wall mount. The headset hanger is a wonderful little addition. I wasn't sure how i would get on with the curved screen but within a couple of hours it just seems the norm. Overall i'm very happy with my purchase and feel this monitor is very good value for the money.

Brilliant Monitor

Let me start by saying this has to be one of the best monitors I've ever had the pleasure of using, I've previously used monitors that have had 60hz refresh rates and slower response time, and take it from me you really can tell the difference, its like night and day in comparison. The extra frames really help when playing online as the animations and transitions are a lot more smooth and the response time of the monitor is great for online shooters and also games such as rocket league. Another thing that stood out to me were how vibrant the colour were, but also how dark the black tones were which i found pleasantly surprising. The bezel that comes included with the monitor is very sturdy and also very heavy, which allows you to position the monitor how you like it without it sliding down after a long amount of time, although the bezel dose not allow the monitor to turn 180 degrees into portrait, its not something you would normally do with a curved monitor (which is completely understandable). Overall i would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for an (in my opinion) budget 144hz 27" 2560x1440 monitor.

Great Monitor

If your in the market for a curved widescreen monitor that offers unbeatable value and features then look no more. From opening the well packaged box to setting up was straight forward using the supplied documentation.I can confirm that although it is a freeSync monitor it works faultlessly with my nvidia 1080ti.The OSD program is a godsend and I can see other manufacturers having to follow suit.Anyone coming from a 1080p monitor to a 1440 will be blown away by the difference.
