AMD Radeon R9 390 and above are VR Ready, virtual reality headsets such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are game changers in the way we play games. Valves SteamVR benchmark is the best way to test if your current PC is VR ready, ideally you need a score of 7+ and a 390/390X tend to score 7-8 which means they meet the minimum specification for virtual reality. VR will change how we play games as titles such as Elite Dangerous are out of this world when experienced in VR and with upcoming titles such as Portal 3, Half Life 3, Doom the future looks very exciting for PC gaming and AMD is ready with Liquid VR.

The 390 series from AMD offer great future proofing for upcoming game titles such as Star Wars Battlefront, DOOM, Half Life 3 and Fall Out 4. Featuring DirectX 12 support and 8GB of memory makes the 390 series great for current and future games at resolutions upto 4k.

Great card, still poor drivers

This is still easily better than a 970, however many have said it runs cool, in my experience the card runs very hot, I run a very aggressive fan profile, idle it sits at 48c after PC has been on for hours, that's with the fans off, under load I have 100% at 60c and I have seen it peak at 78c in games.

Benchmarks it has hit 85c and the card throttles down, one odd item is even while temps are good the core clock speed changes during gaming, I would not mind if it was sat at 60fps but I can't see any reason for the changes, however it could be the reason why it has incredibly stable fps
Word of caution to those who run water cooling rad in the top of your case and not water cooling this card it seriously pushes up case temps and therefore water temps. My case temps have jumped by 20c so this impacts all my components, if your in the same boat I would suggest a different card or plan for a case change

Over clocks well but tbh not worth it due to heat

Not as slick as i would have liked

6 Stars from me, It performs really quite well. However it has driver issues. I have spend hours getting drivers setup correctly. Coming from Nvidia and not being bias i will spend my money where i get the best bang for my buck hence i own this card. Im afraid to say Nvidia drivers and software (even after crimson updates) is still streets ahead of AMD's But its a good card however i think unless something changes i will be going back to Nvidia soon.

Great Buy for the price

Hello

Bought 2 of these one for a new OC AMD Pc and one for my other i5 OC PC (upgrade).

Extremely impressed with the cards ability on both PCs.

Have had the odd issue with Star wars Battlefront though (both PCs) with colour corruption. Although have spoken to EA and Dice and it appears to be an issue with the game and not the cards.

10/10

Thanks

Love this card

Purchased this car to complete a new build, and so far i am impressed.
The card runs very quiet as others have stated. and even under load doesn't seem to raise its temps enough to warrant any maximum fannage (think that's a word).

I was very impressed with the frame rates i was getting at 1920x1080 and since purchasing i have also purchased a 4k monitor.
I wasn't expecting to be able to play the same games at the same graphics settings at 4k, but it handles it no problem. with only a 2 or 3 fps drop.

This card in this price bracket is probably the best you can buy. It feels solid and well built with an illuminating dragon on the side, which you can adjust to display how you like. (Mine breathes on and off)

Overclock-ability is good to, with MSI supplying the software to do this, also can be done by your tablet or phone.

only niggle is its proving a little temperamental with Adobe lightroom, not the cards fault but Adobe's, Update has been promised though.

That good i will be buying another next payday :-)

amazing

i got this gpu for my gf's birthday, she loves it compared to her 290. much cooler and quieter and runs much quicker, i personally have a 970 and it runs way quicker then that.... unlike the benchmarks ive seen. i also got it on deal for 260 pound. whats even more amazing. and awesome delivery as always.

10/10

Awesome value - plays anything (june 201

I upgraded from SLI 780's, and this single gpu plays everything brilliantly. I have GTA5 on Very High @ 1080p, Thief 2014 on max @ 1080p.

The card is also very quiet, even during this heatwave (july 2015).

Love the looks, and for the price I think I'll get another!

Great card for the money

This has been the easiest AMD card I have ever installed, and the best performing. Having moved from crossfire HD 7870s to a single R9 390 I wasnt sure what to expect, but it is certainly a positive step upwards.

Running an i5 3570k clocked at 4.2Ghz and 16gb DDR3 @ 2400Mhz, it has acheived the following benchmarks thus far:

Heavensward FFxiv dx11 @ 1080p: 11210 (Extreme)
Monster Hunter (ranked): 17691 (better than 92%)

Card is also near silent under stress (a new concept for me)!

So far, no regrets.

Also, not mentioned on the store page, the card is 278mm long or 11 inches (to end of cooler) for those of you, like myself, who find space in the case to be a premium.
