Introduction

Doom Eternal is coming to PC on March 20th and the hype is real!! For those of you that are just as excited as we are, we have put together the ultimate Doom themed PC setup. Doom is essentially Hell on Earth so when it comes to aesthetics expect lots of black, red and orange. The Ultra-Nightmare graphical settings also live up to their name with the recommended spec list featuring some beastly hardware. It’s well worth checking to ensure your current system is up to the job because you might need to upgrade.

Specifications for Doom Eternal

Bethesda recently announced the full spec list and if you want to get the most out of Doom it does require a powerful PC. Recommended specs include an RTX 2060 and at least a High-end Quad-core processor. These are what you’re going to want to aim for and will be obtainable for most people.

Ultra-Nightmare settings step things up a notch are indeed a nightmare for most PC’s to try and run. It’s the perfect setting for Gamers that don’t like compromise however it does demand top tier enthusiast components that will set you back thousands of pounds.

The Ballista is an excellent option if you’re on a tighter budget with a price tag of £859.99 and you even get a copy of DOOM Eternal to go along with it. The Ryzen 5 3600 and RX 5500XT will be capable of 1080p, 60 FPS gameplay and the 16GB of RAM is above what DOOM recommends for high settings. Storage requirements are covered with a 250GB Team Group SSD and 1TB Seagate Barracuda. All the components are assembled inside the Kolink VOID and the styling matches the DOOM theme rather well.

The heart of any gaming PC is the graphics card and If you’re looking to play Doom on its Ultra-Nightmare graphical settings for the best experience possible while cutting your way through those pesky demons you’re going to need a hugely powerful GPU. The RTX 2080Ti is the best money can buy when it comes to gaming and the AORUS GEFORCE XTREME is one of the fastest with a Boost Clock speed of 1770MHz. It also happens to match the aesthetics of Doom perfectly with its aggressive cooler design and bright RGB lighting which you can set to Orange or Red for that authentic hell on earth aesthetic.

If the thought of spending over £1000 on a GPU is giving you Ultra-nightmares. It’s still possible to get a great experience on DOOM with an awesome bang for buck GPU. It might not be listed on the Spec list but the RX 5700XT will easily handle 1080p 60fps gameplay. If you’re not sure which model to go for, I suggest the Powercolor Red devil at £389.99. The black and red coloration scream DOOM and the red devil logo that resembles a Baron of hell demon is just too perfect.

If you’re investing in a beastly PC or planning on a huge upgrade to play DOOM it’s likely you’ll be pushing out plenty of FPS even at high resolutions. Unfortunately, even a 2080Ti isn’t quite powerful enough for 4K, 144hz gameplay but there is a good compromise that is a real sweet spot for the fast-paced gameplay Doom provides. The LG 27gl850 is an Overclockers exclusive and if you’re a Linus tech tips fan you might recall it being named “the best monitor of 2019”. The 1440p resolution and 144hz refresh rate is a beautiful balance between eye candy and performance and the other specs tick pretty much every box.  The Nano IPS display has all the benefits of IPS with bright immersive colours but none of the drawbacks thanks to the 1ms response time that ensures blur and ghosting is non-existent. If you mostly use your PC to play games then you probably don’t use most of the keys on a standard keyboard.
