NVIDIA: G-Sync Support Coming to FreeSync Gaming Monitors!

NVIDIA has just made a shock announcement: A driver is on its way to enable users to activate their popular VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) tech known as G-Sync on monitors that have, until today, only supported AMD’s version (FreeSync). The overall adoption rate of G-Sync has been slower than it could have been due to the limited pool of monitors capable of meeting NVIDIA’s requirements but this could mark a defining moment in the accelerating adoption of VRR technology among enthusiasts. While the number of monitors that are both FreeSync and G-Sync certified remains relatively small, this represents the start of a race between competing monitor manufacturers to create affordable monitors that at least meet both NVIDIA’s and AMD’s baseline specs.

G-SYNC Compatible support will, according to reports, be rolling out later this month with the arrival of NVIDIA’s first Game Ready driver of 2019. Fortunately for us, OcUK is pleased to announce that we’ve already got our hands on seven out of the twelve (!) models of monitor capable of supporting both standards!
