Summary of the Latest Online Gaming Shows this Year


Many large events have been cancelled this year however game developers and publishers have plenty of games they want to announce and showcase. To replace these cancellations new online events have been scheduled. The list is long and the dates are sporadic so Overclockers put together a guide which you can check out HERE.

So far quite a few of these gaming shows have taken place and below is a summary of what took place and a select few of the many games we saw.

Guerilla Games Show

The Guerilla collective started on June 13th and is an online digital games festival that included fresh announcements, trailers and interviews from some of the hottest publishers and developers around the world. It took place over three days and here are some popular picks:

Baldurs Gate 3

Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an original character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer. This trailer shows off a cinematic view of Baldur’s Gate 3, including a planned Early Access release date for August if the game manages to stay on schedule.

Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium is a role-playing game where you play as a detective with a unique skill system at your disposal and a whole city block to carve your path across. Interrogate unforgettable characters, crack murders or take bribes. Become a hero or a disaster of a human being. The game has been on Steam since 2019, however, this new trailer was an announcement for its release on the Epic game store.

Dwarf Fortress

Bay 12 Games has offered a first look at gameplay from the Steam version of Dwarf Fortress. Classic Dwarf Fortress uses ASCII-art, but this new version has graphics and is set for a paid release on Steam in collaboration with publisher Kitfox Games. This is sure to bring the game that’s been around since 2006 to the mainstream market. Gameplay consists of building a fortress to try to help your dwarves survive, or adventure as a single hero against a deeply generated world.

Crusader Kings III

Paradox Development showed off the sequel to one of the most popular strategy games ever made. Crusader Kings III is next in a line up of historical grand strategy experiences and arrives with a host of new ways to ensure the success of your royal house. The game is coming September 1st 2020 and in the video below the developers show off gameplay and discuss the big improvements and features.

PC Gaming Show 2020

The PC Gaming show had a total of over 2 hours worth of Trailers, entertainment, interviews and various announcements. The event took place on June 13th and we saw more than 50 games in this events biggest lineup ever. Below are some of the highlights.

Torchlight III

In Torchlight III, Novastraia is again under threat of invasion and it’s up to you to defend against the Netherim and its allies. Gather your wits and brave the frontier to find fame, glory, and new adventures! The trailer below announced the game as now available as Early Access on Steam. You can get in early and buy it for £23.79 to start playing it today.

Evil Genius 2

Evil Genius 2 is a satirical spy-fi lair builder where you play as the criminal mastermind. You have to construct your base, train your minions, defend your operations from the Forces of Justice all while on the path to global domination! The PC gaming show had a world exclusive first gameplay footage trailer and it does look like an excellent sequel to the 2004 original with vastly updated graphics.  


Ooblets is a farming, town life, and creature collection game where you manage your farm, grow and train your ooblets, explore strange lands, and most importantly have dance-offs. The PC Gaming Show 2020 revealed that Ooblets' Early Access launch will be arriving soon. It’s coming to the Epic Games Store this summer and you can see the special early access trailer below.

Surgeon Simulator 2

Surgeon Simulator 2 is the gut-busting video game sequel to the original operation sim from Bossa Studios. From 4-player co-op to the all-new Bossa Labs Creation Tool, get ready to explore an entire medical facility with more hilarious possibilities. The first edition of Surgeon Simulator was a favourite amongst Youtubers and the new trailer revealed the game will be available on the Epic Games store from August 2020.

Future Games show

The Future games show as the name suggests focused on the future of gaming over the next few years and offered an exclusive look at new trailers, gameplay demos, and interviews with developers. The showcase featured over 40 games titles that will be released on various platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.

Wasteland 3

Wasteland 2 was an RPG series that pioneered the post-apocalyptic genre in video games and it returns with Wasteland 3. In Wasteland 3 you take command of a squad of Desert Rangers, lawmen and women in a post-nuclear world, trying to rebuild society. You can check out the trailer below and the game is coming to Xbox One, PS4, Windows, Mac and Linux on August 28th, 2020.


Ghostrunner is a hardcore slasher packed with lightning-fast action, set in a grim, cyberpunk setting of a futuristic mega-structure. You must Climb Dharma Tower, humanity’s last shelter after a world-ending cataclysm and make your way up from the very bottom to the top, confront the tyrannical Keymaster and take your revenge. Ghostrunner is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Kena Bridge of Spirits

Kena Bridge of Spirits is coming for PS5 and on the Epic game store Holiday 2020 and in the video below you can see just how beautiful this game is. Kena bridge of spirits is a story driven, action adventure combining exploration with fast-paced combat. As Kena, you find and grow a team of charming spirit companions called the Rot, enhancing their abilities and creating new ways to manipulate the environment.

Quantum Error

Quantum error is a cosmic-horror first-person shooter currently in development by TeamKill Media for the PS5 and PS4. The Monad Quantum Research Facility is attacked by an unknown entity Fire Chief Sturgis answers the call for help and sends you. However, what starts as a rescue mission quickly plummets into darkness, when you arrive and find that things are not as they appear. Take a look at the first PS5 gameplay from Quantum Error in the World Premiere trailer below.
