The world is a strange place right now and you might suddenly find yourself spending a lot more time at home than usual. Games are a brilliant way to pass the time and help take your mind off things. You could be a gaming veteran with a steam library full of half-finished titles and don’t want to waste your money on something you’ll likely get bored of. Or you might be new to PC gaming and just spent all your cash on a shiny new system and don’t quite have enough left this month to splash out on your Steam library. If you’re looking to escape for a while it doesn’t get better than free and there is something on this list for everyone.

World War Z

Epic offers free games to keep every couple of weeks via the Epic Games Store. Until the 2nd of April World War Z is on that list! The name might sound familiar and the game takes place in the same world with hordes of zombies, exciting missions and plenty of fast-paced gameplay.

Figment

Another Free game from Epic this week is Figment which is also available until the 2nd April. This action-adventure game allows you to explore the quirks of the human mind. The world is strange and surreal and is filled with thoughts, urges and memories all brought to life. The enemies are nightmarish thoughts that appear as strange creatures in the whimsical hand-drawn universe. Your task is to restore the mind using brain or brawn to restore quiet and calm.

Drawful 2

Not being able to see your friends or family to socialise can be pretty tough however Drawful 2 is a PC game everyone can play together. Only one player needs to own the game and as long as you can share your screen via something such as Skype or Zoom everyone else can play along on their own mobile devices by using a browser. It’s currently free to keep on the Epic Games store until the 9th of April.

Rayman Legends

Uplay is currently giving away Rayman legends for free until the 3rd of April. This legendary platformer will keep you busy as you run, jump and fight your way through each perfectly crafted level based on a mythical world.

Gone Home

Gone Home is an interactive exploration simulator with no combat and no puzzles. The game is very inviting and you’re free to explore the story at your own pace without getting attacked, stuck, or frustrated. The game is made to be a relaxing and immersive experience as you search around a 1990s home where every detail has been carefully recreated. The objective is to investigate clues and piece together evidence to unravel the mystery of what happened to the missing occupants. Gone Home is available on the epic games store free from the 2nd to the 9th of April.

HOB

Hob is a beautiful looking adventure game that comes from the Makers of Torchlight II. The gameplay is full of exploration, puzzles, and battles with rogue creatures. As you play the game you soon discover the stunning world around you is in desperate need of help and your mission is to mend it before it falls further into disarray. Hob will be available for free on the epic games store starting on the 2nd of April.

Escape From Tethys

Escape from Tethys is an action-adventure Metroidvania game set on the remote planet of Tethys. The story follows a scientist who is exploring the mysterious, dark world. In order to survive, you must confront and defeat the strongest creatures of the planet. There are 5 different Biomes to explore each scattered with upgrades and unlockables to help you progress to the planet’s surface and eventually escape. Escape from Tethys is free to keep on Steam from the 3rd to the 6th of April.

Tormentor x Punisher

Everything in Tormentor x Punisher can be killed in one hit, including yourself! The gameplay is brutal and the goal of this top-down twin stick shooter is to survive and get the highest of scores. Bosses conjure traps to make the arena hellish. Demons adjust to your play style and punish you. Perform combos on enemies and gain cool upgrades. Reload your machine gun by firing your shotgun. You can get it free on the Epic Games store until April 2nd.

BalanCity

Balancity is currently £5.95 on Steam but if you head over to IndieGala you can download the entire game for free. Gameplay is based on balance and physics. It’s a mixture between old school SimCity and Jenga. The aim is to build the tallest city on top of a balancing platform while avoiding fires, earthquakes, meteor strikes, UFO attacks, monsters and more!

Twitch Prime Games

So these games aren’t technically free but if you have an Amazon Prime membership then make sure to take advantage of all the Twitch Prime benefits. Twitch Prime’s next batch of free games will be released on April the 1st and you have the whole month to get your hands on them. The Turok remaster, Kathy Rain, Etherborn, Earthlock, and Lightmatter can all be yours to keep on the Twitch client, where you can install and play said games.

Keep your eye on the epic store for free games updated often. Also loads of cheap games at Humble Bundle to support charity and keep busy while in lockdown!
