fantastic cooler

best cooler ive used so far little tricky to fir as i did with motherboard in case but ok but much easier with board out , main thing is got temp of 31 c idle and 40 under max load fans are amazingly quiet good instructions and the way its packaged makes finding the right parts easy, its good cooler for overclocking ive got this temps on 4.5 overclock with a AMD A 10 , really impressed will use noctua for all my builds now

Quality. You know you've bought quality as soon as you get it out the box. Clear instruction for Intel and AMD. I wanted a quiet cooler and this is beyond my expectation, I think the PSu fan is more noisy. I've got a i5-2500k at stock speed and after 2 hours of bf4 the cpu was 49c, idles around 30c. So glad I bought this, tried a ANTEC H950 and that was loud. Yes it's a little expensive but worth it, well worth it.

Noctua NH-L12 for a micro-ATX setup

I just built a PC with the AMD A8 3.9 GHz APU on an Asus mu-ATX board in a small tower case (OCUK CA-062-XG). I had thought the stock cooler supplied with the APU looked a bit limited. When I put it together it started idling at about 41 C, and after installing the OS and messing around for a couple of hours I got a 60 C warning popup. So, I shut down (with no harm done) and went back to OCUK to buy this cooler as it looked robust, likely effective (heatpipes and 2 fans) and low and compact enough to fit in my smallish case (it was actually the cheapest one OCUK had in stock that day that I thought fitted these criteria).

Like the first reviewer says, when you get it out of the box it looks very well put together. It comes with mounting kits for AMD and Intel. It was possible to fit it to my system without removing the mobo (but taking the PSU out helped to see both mounting screw points). It was easy enough to sit it on the 2 screw mounting points without sliding it about unduly on the thermal paste and easy to (a) catch the threads of the mounting bits properly on these screws and (b) fit the 2nd fan with the main assembly in place. The radiator fins cover the memory modules though, and I'd be surprised if you could replace them without removing the cooler completely from the APU.

Important bit - with the new cooler, the Asus AI suite reported the APU idling at 31 C and it was 40 C after downloading and installing 55 W8 updates. Overall an excellent choice where space is limited and I'm pleased with it.

*Top tip - replace the original hook points for the cooler with the supplied new mounts one at a time, then the backplate doesn't fall off the bottom of the mobo!.

Superb HSF suitable for 130W TDP Core i7

Bought this as I needed a low profile cooler which did not obstruct the case side fan & block airflow into the PSU as my case has a top PSU mount. Its superb as expect from Noctua build quality is flawless. Keeps my Core i7-980X @ 3.46Ghz below 55C on full load & ultra quiet you can hear it only slightly which is around the same noise level as the internal case fans. For something which is primarily designed for 95W CPU's keeping my hot Core i7-980X below stock Intel HSF's temps @ a higher Ghz & with minimal noise is quite some achievement. That's with both 92+120mm fans fitted. The only downside is I am tempted to buy another for my other PC now !!! as I love how this is half the weight of typical tower HSF's but performs well for the size. It also comes fully assembled with fans+clips attached you just need to remove your motherboard & fit the backing plate for your socket type then apply the supplied thermal paste & tighten up a few screws with the provide screwdriver.
