Got this in my new build, inside a Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper and it fits perfectly.

Runs extremely well with idle temps on a SB Intel i5 2500K @ 26c (not OC'd) and the load temps aren't a great deal more. Highly recommended!

Fantastic CPU cooler

After I gave up on watercooling (due to not wanting to deal with the hassle anymore), I decided on this CPU cooler for my Core i7-2600K. I had been told great things of Noctua CPU coolers and this cooler lived up to my built-up expectations. I chose it over the NH-D14 because of the NH-D14's overwhelming size (I guess the real life temperature difference between them isn't that high anyway!).

The CPU cooler was pretty simple to mount on the motherboard, with very clear instructions on how to mount the backplate and the cooler. It was very easy to do with very little effort needed on my part, which is a rare quality of CPU coolers. I'm using two Xigmatek 120mm fans on it due to personal preference. With the fans mounted, one of the fans does block my first RAM slot, so be warned. I guess I could move the fan up a bit to give extra clearance beneath but it is not needed anyway as I only have two sticks of RAM.

Great service from Overclockers as usual. Highly recommended CPU cooler!!

Product Update

Just visited the Noctua website and they list this as FOC to persons who have purchsed the cooler for MAD boards. This allows the cooler to be rotated 90 degrees to force the air out the back of the case... Follow the link: and click "the form"...

Is my PC even on?

This thing is near silent, It comes with a couple of resistors to quieten the fans even more, but they are not needed, My CPU is now near silent and is freezing.

The only thing I would recommend is doing a little research into this cooler. The Noctua Website tells you what motherboards it's compatible with, which means you can find out whether or not it will fit before installing. Also it Seems it struggles to go on right with AMD Chips, again research...

If you can fit it in your case, this is the best cooler money can buy.

Stock speeds of a q6700 is like 29c, core i7 is more like 35, easily manages 3.7ghz i7 at 80c, its a ridiclous cooler. Anyone who complains it's too big never read the reviews everywhere, ananadtech it's particulary good.

Very good

Decent cooler. Fits in my antec 300 with the Gigabyte UD3R. It does block off the first ram slot but as I have 2x2gb ram then this isn't really a problem. If 4 ram slots are needed, the fan can be moved 1-2cm upwards on the heatsink to give more room.
My i5 750 overclock has not been primed for 8 hours yet but at 4ghz it is 65c in prime, which is good for a case with poor airflow and a million cables due to a non-modular Corsair PSU.

Glaring AMD Issue

Im really disappointed in the design of this cooler.

The bracket for AMD users only allows the cooler to be positioned in one direction, namely facing the top of the case.

Another side effect of this strange positioning of the cooler is that it now totally overshoots the dimm modules - so ive had to scrap 4gbs and only keep 4gbs in the second B1+B2 slots...

This is obviously not an issue for Intel owners but im amazed that such an oversight got through the Q&A with Noctua....

Huge heatsink with 2 fans, had to take off the side case fan to fit. Overclocked my phenom x4 to 3.6gig and 53* at full load (65 recommended max)
I will note that for full fan speed don't use the additional wires they include (black or blue) as it limits the max rpm of the fans.
Very happy with my purchase.
Swift delivery from overclockers

tower block

very quiet with the atenuators, keeps it nice and cool but this thing is like a freakin tower block! i have a coolermaster wave case wich is quite big and this thing clears that by half an inch"!! so it's either out with the jigsaw, a new case or ditch the cooler

Im giving it a 4 star as it does every thing you want it to do but a pain when it comes to putting the CPU together... eg the fan clips are not clearly shown on how to put together but after looking at the pic on here it a better example than the instruction says. Other A good cooler just make sure u got room.

The heat sink look very good when I opened the box and with ample fittings. But then after looking at the problem for 10 mins I realised I would only mount in one direction. The problem is only for AMD users a will most likely mean the air flow will not be towards the rear of your case. I think it's just shocking such a high end heat sink producer doesn't add brackets for other orientation.

Good for i5 750 on a Gigabyte UD3R

I brought this to go with my Core i5 750 on a Gigabyte P55-UD3R & there's good mobo clearance, although the 1st ram slot is blocked if you use memory with a tall hs on it (ie g.skill ripjaw).

With only 1 of the included fans attached i'm seeing:

Idle: 25c, 100% Load: 36c

That's at stock but with turbo on.

Couldn't be happier as it's nearly silent & I only have 1x800rpm 120mm exhaust fan fitted to my P183!

I wanted a Noctua CPU cooler for my Q9650 that could be used afterwards for my eventual i7 upgrade. Sure it's a bit costly, but the build of these CPU coolers is 2nd to none. it's a significant improvement over my previous arctic cooler freezer7(which was a very good cooler in and of itself).
