An excellent entry level gaming pc

PC does everything i need to do especially gaming where it can run most games over 60fps at demading settings. Only issue is that it is definately not an RGB pc as the software to change the colours dont even work as you can only change the colour to green (can not change back to orignal colour blue unless restarting pc) and the default is blue.

Astonishing performance, surprisingly neat.... but the build quality is poor.

You can't go wrong with any of the components here - my GTX 1070 (8GB), i3-8100 and 8GB of Whatsitsface brand RAM have served me well having owned the machine for a month. In spite of being a no-name power supply, which most people would strongly recommend against, the Kolink 500W PSU has seen no issues so far. My first PC had a 650W Corsair hunk of energy, but constantly sounded like it was under strain despite the reasonably low requirements to run the machine (R7 250 GPU, AMD FX-4300 CPU), so this is quite a step up. Then again, it's only been a month.

Everything fits in beautifully well, to the point where you'd want additional tat to be in there for the sake of looking awesome. The reason for this being the drive bays, where the GTX 1070 takes up just a bit too much space for them, but below is a secret compartment for the PSU and drives, which are neatly stored and out of the way of your beastly graphics slab. The cable management is superb as well, but the wires look like they're ready to fray at any moment because of how tightly they're tucked away and how they're bent. The LED lighting, while beautiful, only highlights the contrasting yellow and orange plastic cables in my icy blue case.

The case. We have to have a chat about the case. The Phanteks P400 proves that elegance can be found in simplicity. It gives off a lot of room for large fans in the back, and as said earlier, the two-tiers to the case allow for a lot of customisation and alleviate a lot of size concerns. Whatever you want, you can more than likely fit it in here. But its greatest strength and its Achilles' Heel are the pre-built screws. The idea is that you unwind them and pop them out, but not off so you don't lose them and you don't need a screwdriver. However, you do. They are stuck fast, and only the ones for the windows could be undone by hand, unless you're Superman. But they're the reason why this case gets a lower rating than a perfect 10 - it was that much of a hassle to get the case window off, because the screws were bent out of shape and wouldn't allow the case to come cleanly off. In what I thought was a feat of strength, the window panel had been torn off undamaged, but that sentence is not one that should be used to describe how to get the internal packaging out. And kudos to the creators for the internal packaging, it kept everything safe and secure. But so did the broken screws, which have made upgrading my rig a whole lot less appealing. I really don't want to open the case again in the worry that I'll damage the screws for real and not able to shut the machine up. This is on top of the tackiness of the case. While it is a nice case, it also feels like a very cheap plastic or woefully thin metal. The front panel especially does not pop out like a dream, but like a beast from a nightmare you've only just managed to wake up from. Getting it on was just as horrific. It looks nice, but it is a total chore to work with. I hope it's just me.

As a whole, the machine is good. The sum of its parts are greater. You are getting a good mid-high end PC with a motherboard that makes adding or changing components incredibly simple. But the case, while pretty, detracts from the joy of doing so. Get this build, but try another case.

Awesome entry level gaming pc!

Just purchased this for my son's 13th Birthday. He is an avid gamer and I wanted an entry level system for him. Have been pre loading and testing software and I have to say I'm really impressed. We got the basic configuration (so i3,8gb etc) But with the cheapest 120gb SSD for the Operating system . Out of the box it didn't boot so I did have to open it up and ensure all the components and power etc was connect and then it was fine. Nice fast boot up and it is running overwatch and destiny 2 on highest settings at a solid 60fps! Would defo recormend this to anyone looking for an entry level system
