OcUK GeForce GTX 980 "Reference Design" 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980/970 is powered by the next generation NVIDIA Maxwell Architecture, giving you incredible performance, unmatched power efficiency, and cutting-edge features.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Ready for VR

I'm always wondering if/how to be ready for VR because I need 90+ fps. Well, I was running 4K (40 inch Philips) on a single 980 and with 2 of these in SLI I'm not only crushing 4K, I'm going to own VR.
Very happy a long as VR supports SLI.
trust me, the price difference between these and the 980ti is not worth it.

Best cards ever IMO

Before this i had two 780 cards and i was in two minds if i should sell them and move to two 980 cards seeing as DX12 is all most here ....Boy this as to be the best move i ever made as far as power go's the two cards out perform the two 780 hands down ...I have an Asus swift 1400p and wanted to play games like BF4 in ultra and keep 143 fps not that i would really need high fps with G-sync but still i wanted Ultra setting plus high fps and the cards do it easy .Game feel so smooth ,The only down side for me was Nivdia them self's the promise of "MFAA & DSR" but what they don't tel you is it wont work with SLI only works with single card setup so i little disappointed about that .. All in all I a very guy the cards are amazing if you have the spare cash get one or two ...

PS : I could play BF4 with ultra setting and keep good fps but for some reason just did not feel smooth even with G-sync .

pi/10 sort of beefy.

This GPU was a nice cheap upgrade from my ATI rage 128 (1999).
It gets a little hot due to its memory bus only being able to handle 256bits at a time....
But I solved the issue by soldering (with a lighter) some fiber optic cables to the PCB.
This resulted in the GPU spitting super hot fire when I tried to run Far Cry 2 on DX9.
I solved this issue by placing my medium McDonald milkshake cup on the GPU core, as legend has it, McDonalds milkshakes are colder than liquid nitrogen which is why I get brain freeze every time I sip it. Also apparently if you drink it without the plastic lid on, it rips a hole in the "space time continuum" (just like typing Google into Google)(or ordering the "Ham Salad Sub" at Subway).

.....Anyway back to the GPU, I was using this in conjunction with my two 4:3 (800x480) CRT monitors. I connected them with various adapters to achieve a connection via SCART (DisplayPort to DVI to VGA to Composite Cable to SCART).
This didn't actually work so I forcibly removed the DVI connection from the card and soldered all of the above adapters in its place, but this only gives me a black and white display, but this is okay as this is a "retro gaming PC" before any of the haters comment.

I accidentally knocked the milkshake over the other day and it may have boosted the performance by 500% and the monitor also displayed in colour although the resolution downgraded to 400x240. Is my card still in warranty?!?!

CPU: AMD Pentium 5 Dodecacore (2 threads)(@ 5.2THz)(32GB L3 Cache) idles @-1K (thanks to my custom milkshake kooling

Awesome power.

Just installed these cards in SLI and WOW! They already boost to 1266 without any overclocking at all.
Running cool too with slightly modified fan profile.

Highly recommended.

Good GPU ASIC Quality 73.9%

ASIC Quality 73.9%
OC - 1575mhz
Now underwater 30c max at 1575mhz .
Best way is , buy is't card and waterblock for 89

Why pay more?

Bought two of these, now on water and running at 1556 Mhz clock with 8000 Mhz memory... Even without the water cooling ran well and overclocked as far as the other cards. Don't pay for a name unless buying the upgraded components, which are not in the reference cards... Great card, cheaper than the rest and the same :)
