Good until it died

Like the review below, I've been using this for 2 years.
My PC suddenly cut out when watching a film, the PSU has died.

I haven't tried an RMA yet.

Great PSU.. While it lasted

Bought this PSU and it ran well for about 1 year. Started getting blue screens after that, and couldn't figure out the cause.

Finally found it was the PSU when it failed completely, within warranty.

Unfortunately, the RMA process involves shipping the PSU to Holland at my expense - about

this psu is well worth the money it is a powerful psu for a 600w its a shame that you can only power 1 graphics card on the main power lead as theres not enough to run two cards in crossfire but apart from all that the psu is very quiet well built.

Sweet PSU

As my first modular PSU, I am extremely happy!

It's a very tidy PSU. Cables are nice and thing, bound in that stretchy mesh material that keeps the airflow good.

Very quiet, very reliable. Excellent!

I love OCZ :-)

Just so people know, if you have a bottom mounted PSU case, then the SATA power cables are going to be awkward as you can't just run the cable all the way up, you have to twist it round so the the power plug is upside down which makes the rest of the cable stick out.

Other then that, it's a great PSU.

as already said, a solid quiet and high quality PSU, only problem (if you can call it that) is as already stated that the cpu power cable is a bit short in cases with bottom mounted PSU`s, nothing an extension cant sort if your that bothered but as it is in my antec 300 it easily reaches the socket with a bit of slack, i guess OCZ will take this into consideration and revise the product in due course though.

im by no means a gamer and didn't particularly need anything bigger than a 500w PSU but at the price of

SO far so good, but short cables

Bought this supply as a backup/temp replacement for my corsair HX 650 that went bang... literally while its being RMA'd!

Nice build quality feel about this PSU and it looks great. It doesnt hold as many 6/8pin PCI-E cables as my corsair but it does the job.

One big negative for me was the cable length on the PSU. im Running this in a corsair 800D and the power cable is barely long enough reach the 24pin connector and no-where near reachign the 8pin cnncector. Also the PCI-E cables are too short.

Word of advice. Dont buy this if you have a fulltower beast of a case like the 800D it will need cable extenders. For mid tower or small cases it should be fine

V nice

decent and quiet PSU only problem is8-pin CPU connector is quite short espically if mounted at the bottom of a case like the Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator. It must rest on top of the ATI 5870 and sit behind the cpu heatsink, not big issuse but not ideal if oc cpu and want decent airflow

Just had one of these delivered and I'm very impressed with it. 140mm fan, very quiet, nice modular cables, only has the 4pin, 8pin and 24 pin hard-wired the rest of the cables are modular. Good weight to the unit to, also nice paint finish. Like the idea of the 3 year power swap warranty, less hassle just in case. Great price for what you get. Modular cables come in a nice seperate zip bag and the packaging of the unit is very good so less chance of damage in transit. Overall fantastic service from OC so far during my new system build and love the THI|S WEEK ONLY hehe. Just to clear up some confusion about the 12V Rails output on this unit, it has 2 12V rails which can output 25A on EITHER 12v, but not at the same time, as the TOTAL 12V output is only 504Watts which is 42A combined. Thought that bit of info might help others. I'm going to run this on a Core i7 920 or 930 with a P6T X58 board, 6Gb Tri Channel Memory, standard clocks btw and possibly a ATI 5850 (Sing!
le card).

very good'quiet no problems fitting it.

Solid PSU

Excellent unit, cant hear it running either. Powering an i5 and CF 5770s.

I'd recommend a 4pin extender if you have a large case as I needed one for my Antec 902 to route it around the back.

satanica 2010-05-18

all fine

got this day after purchase, all easy to set up, run quiet , no issues at all,

Good PSU

This is a great priced PSU, relatively quiet, and plenty of cables. It's not as silent as higher priced 'silent' PSU's, but more than adequate for quiet running.

Only downside is the 8-pin CPU connector is quite short. I was building with an NZXT M59 case (Mid-Tower), and it didn't reach (and this was going straight to the connector, not routing the cable through the back of the case.)

If you're buying this, buy an 8-pin extension cable with it (about

Fantastic build quality.

Plenty enough cables at perfect lengths for an Antec 300 build.

All cables are expertly built.

Recommend to anyone.

Phil 2010-01-14

For my most recent build this was exactly what I needed. Everything about it is great... except the length of the 8pin motherboard connector - the case is an NZXT m59; it's not very big... and the wire couldnt be neatly routed. For some people the 24pin might be too short too.

As for performance I would have no worries about overclocking the cpu, adding extra hdds and implementing a nice 3xxxGTX gpu later. Don't go looking for high-end sli any time soon - but in general this psu is great. Being the first modular psu I have encountered I am quite pleased, it really helped keep the cable management neat.

Great performance and value

I recently started putting a new machine together and have purchased this as my PSU.

It runs cool and quiet and provides enough power for a current SLI or CrossFire setup.

My old machine has a Tagan in it which was is also great but this PSU from OCZ is far better in terms of the temperature and noise.

So if you want to spend more on other delights and grab yourself a great PSU that can perform as good as others costing more than this then here you are.

Fantastic PSU, Great Value

Just got this power supply today, it's the first modular one I've purchased. It comes with all the necessary cable I needed allowing me to attach as necessary, no excess wire tangles ! At the moment it effortlessly powers a Phenom II 955 BE, HD Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X 1GB, 1 750GB HD and multiple fans and peripheral devices.

It's fantastic for its value, and first class service from OcUK came the next day without fail.

David J Harmer 2009-10-04

Very pleased with this -my pc is now VERY quiet despite my pc spec(4890 vaprX 2gb, phenom II 940, 4gb pc8500, Seagate 500gb sata hdd, Gigabyte 780G micro atx, 2x 120mm case fans) so can now play Crysis etc w settings maxed out and hear the game only. Had a Thermaltake Toughpower 750w before this one which was v loud when playing game (Crysis/Warhead especially)under load. One thing which really bugged me tho, this pwr supply IS very silent as advertised, the one I bought had an annoying 'grinding' sound coming from the fan which I could make disappear if I tilted my case sideways. Oviously not a long term solution. So, I took pwr supply apart (obviously voided my warranty) and removed the (very tiny) circlip which retains the large fan from being totally removed. Due to design of fan assemby, it still spins ok, and stays securely in place. Happy now! Not sure if this fault was unique to me only. Still - my best pwr supply to date.

very good psu

I have always bougth cheaps PSU
( from computer fairs )..while all money whent to mobos ...Vga ...memory ..etc..ect.
but at this price this modular Psu is a bargain...
all reviews over the internet where all positive .... giving a best buy.
powering a overclocked core2 duo
@ 3200 and a 4890... 2 HDD..2 DVD and few spare fan's
to answer an other reviews this psu have the 2 6 pin cable for the Vga but one is actually a 8 pin with 2 pin
detachable one so you still have the 2 six pin ones...
very silent at idle
I think 600 wat is more that enougth to power a non crossfire sistem with only one 4890...

buy one

good service from overclockers uk as allways.
