Stop thinking about it and make the purc

Bought this 3 months ago and it's been amazing.
The computer it went into wasn't anything special and now it boots up in seconds and is ready to go.
They may seem expensive for the space compared to HDD's but this is the best upgrade you can get for your money and be assured you'll see massive speed increased from a HDD.

Out of the box, plugged in, it quickly installed windows 7 and ready to go, easy peasy.

The only downside is if you are using this to upgrade an older machine, you may start to look at buying more upgrades to match the speed :)

Just happens to be same as everybody else here, it's an incredibly fast upgrade from HDD, even on SATA-2, if you're thinking of upgrading, do it....... you won't look back.
As an aside, for some reason it enables my overclock to over 4GHZ on my i5 750, which it would'nt with a HDD?

Very fast and stable

Best upgrade you can make to an old laptop. I know everyone here says the same... but that's the way it is.

Thank you, OC for always having the coolest products!

Good Drive if you update away from 2.11

This drive came with firmware 2.11 which for the first month or so was ok but then I started having repeated system crashes and lock ups.

To update to the latest firmware ensure the drive is NOT your primary drive (best to do this before you set it as your OS drive) and have your PC running in AHCI not IDE mode for HDDs which will require a registry change as well as a bios change if your already running on IDE. Drive should update straight away with the OCZ Toolbox after doing this

Fantastic !

I got one of these with my new Gaming PC running a Core i7 sandybridge processor overclocked to 4.7Ghz and twin 6970's. It boots windows 7 professional 64 bit from cold in 20 seconds !! - Expensive but fabulous performance

Best SSD

This is a very fast SSD.

Had it from when it first came out. Had some firmware problems at the start but with updates all ok now.

OCZ saying max write 500mpbs and read 550mbps but this is not true. I get 515mbps write and 560mbps read and getting faster with every update.

mattew 2011-11-04

Got one of these in my alienware laptop and its very fast indeed , loading windows ,games etc .Highly Recommended Super fast delivery . Well happy ;-)

after waiting a long time to buy a SSD drive (sceptic) i decided to put one of these in a new build. Compared to standard drives it is on a different level i would advise one of these (and do) to anybody thinking of going down the ssd route.
P.S. also helps if you hate noise like i do since harddrive noise is one of the worst sounds :D

Mike Hodgson 2011-10-06

Not Bad

Bought two of these to raid them up to raid 0 to get the advertised throughput on a Marvell 9128 SATA Controller

Shvan 2011-10-01

Good boost but update first.

When I first put this in my machine the OS would randomly lock up for no reason which wasn't happening at all which the previous mechanical drive I had installed. Did some research and found you needed to be at firmware 2.11 (it shipped with 2.06)

Upgraded firmware and haven't seen any problems since. Boot times are a lot quicker, and generally the windows enviroment runs a lot smoother. I suspect this is even more noticeable with a 6GB/s board (I'm running on SATA II)

So yeah. Upgrade the firmware before you put your OS on the drive, and use the bootable linux way of doing it, the tools app download didn't seen to work very well when I tried it.

Well OCZ

Great product. Easy to install on my rig. Great booting up speed almost as fast as my MBP (that has an OCZ ssd as well)

Jonathan Bruce 2011-09-09

OCZ Vetex 3 120GB

Pay attention to other posts here regarding firmware updates..! Do the updates before you install your OS onto it.
Once that is done, you should be happy with the results... Its quick.
One thing I would like to have done is purchase a bigger storage drive so I could have run some games off it. I run my OS through the SSD and then two Caviare Black 1TB HDD's in RAID0.
Overclocker's delivery and helpful service excellent as usual.

Great - eventually

Lots of these drives have issues with stability (random short system freezes and BSOD).

The solution is:
1 - update firmware to 2.11 before installing windows!
2 - Make sure your bios is set to hot plug the drive.
3 - Make sure you are using latest Intel inf and intel RSD driver.

Do it any other way and you will probably have problems - no issues for me since. Very fast now.

I have always been sceptical about the performance gains of an SSD. After reading reviews and hearing how good they were I decided to get my hands on the OCZ Vertex 3 and see what all the hype was about. After even just putting the SSD in my pc I immediately noticed a difference! Windows 7 installed like lighting and now starts up, shuts down and performs better and faster than before (win7 and programs were previously installed on a Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB). I definitely recommend this to anyone and it is definitely worth the

Do not buy until OCZ sort it out

Wait until OCZ make it reliable, and sort out the drive Bsod problems that numerous people are having with this drive.
Yes when it is working it is fast but as yet unreliable.
Dont take my word go to the OCZ support forums, read and then decide if you need all the hassle to be an OCZ tester to get to the root of this drives problems.

meterman 2011-06-05

Very Fast

Using it as an OS drive on SATA III (6gb/s) and its not missed a beat yet. Windows loads up so much quicker than HDD even with 7 Start up programs (which is alot for me), programs open so much faster you will defonatly notice the difference. Scored (the highest) 7.9 rating in Windows Experience Index.

Only downside is the price:
Vertex 3 =

Amazing Drive !!

I have two vortex 3,one failed from out the box,RMA on monday, tested, replaced back in PC by wednesday, firstly tech help and services are the best your'll find ANYWHERE!,Read & Writes 550/500 all day long (ATTO only) please test once, testing all the time will result in write times lowering ,you need time for the drive to recover with trim, basically leave alone and play, best drive to date !! HIGHLY Recommended.

jason 2011-05-18

Faster than the average bear

Upgraded from Vertex 2 and it's a lot faster, windows 7 desktop in 9 seconds ready to go in 12 seconds enough said

Paul 2011-04-12

Insanely performant SSD

When I heard about these new Vertex 3 drives and read some reviews on their performance on an SATA-6Gbps interface, I was immediately interested in one. Despite having an OCZ Vertex 2E 120GB SSD, I decided to sell that one on eBay and get myself an OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD to replace it.

Just received it today (as usual, amazing service by Overclockers UK) and wow, it's noticeably faster than my previous SSD and that says a lot...!!
I've got Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit installed on it with TRIM enabled on AHCI mode so performance is astounding. Best of all, the new SandForce controller isn't meant to degrade performance with TRIM so it makes this SSD insanely performant throughout.

120GB is more than enough for me as it stores my OS, all my software and quite a few games and I still have about 40GB free. I cannot fault this SSD, at all - buy one now!! :)
