Awesome! For a while...

I'm not especially technically-minded so I can't offer a detailed review, but this thing is fast. Really fast. Windows 7 loads up instantly - games start up in a flash, I hardly ever see an egg timer or spinning circle.

In BFBC2 I typically load the map around ten seconds before everyone else, giving me a ten second headstart, lol.

Unfortunately this seems to be a pretty high-maintenance drive. My speeds started out at the advertised maximum but after a couple of weeks they had dropped noticeably. A good clean-up and de-clutter sorted that out, though, and my speeds are maxed out again.

Treat it well and it will treat you well in return :)

my best kept secret

about 3 years ago I bought my first SSD, it was a 32GB ADATA 300 series. it was rubbish. seek time was brilliant as per almost any SSD but it wasn't fast at all, I was getting 120/sec read max. and yet I was really impressed by it at the time.
about a month after I realised that 32GB is not enough so I bought the 64GB version.
and then OCZ announced their debut SSD the OCZ Core. again I ran and bought it and yes you guessed it right: it was rubbish. yet again I was still impressed at the time.
6 month after I bought my first worthy of an SSD the G.Skill Falcon, guys this Falcon baby was the first SSD I bought that was seriously worth every penny. it was a leap forward in my workstation.
a year after I bought the 120GB OCZ Vertex 2 and this was a superb drive as well but it didn't really felt like it was much faster than the falcon.
this brings me to my new found love: the 240GB OCZ Vertex 3.
if the misses will find out that I spent that much money on this she would kill me no doubt. but the OCZ Vertex 3 is my best kept secret. and don't tell my misses but I'm planning to get another secret exactly like this one next month. shooosh!
If i was ever to give awards to an SSD then this would have get a platinum award. Jesus it's as good as it can get. buy one if you can.
