Quiet, cool and quick

One of the more reasonably-priced GTX 1080 models, this card features a modest out-of-the-box overclock, a three-slot design heatsink with customisable LEDs, a sturdy backplate and 1x 8-pin & 1x6-pin power inputs. Palit also offer a 'Premium' version of this card, which has a higher overclock as standard.

I chose this card primarily due to the low noise and low temperature levels this heatsink offers. As stated it's a three-slot solution, so you should probably look elsewhere if you think SLI will be an option now or in the future. I run this card with an i7 6700k with Corsair iH60 cooler exhausting to the rear, two Corsair Noiseless 120MM fans as top exhaust and another drawing air into the front of the ATX case. I have a stable 30c at idle and a high of 60c at load. This card is virtually silent, in fact my EVGA Supernova GS is probably the loudest element of my machine. The power draw at load is slightly higher than the Founders edition of the card, to be expected given the sizeable heatsink. Unlike the Founders edition, which my housemate has in his machine, this card does not seem to throttle much at all. Performance is what you can expect from the GTX1080, delivering a narrow few FPS more than the Founders edition.

I am not interested in overclocking, so I can't report on the performance in that respect. However, given the quality heatsink and power inputs I would expect good results (silicone lottery permitting of course).

The only downside would be the aesthetics of the card. The Guitar Hero-esque font on the backplate is an odd choice, and the tri-colour design (blue, white, grey) might irritate buyers with an interest in showing off their hardware with a side window. I use a soundproofed windowless case so this was not a factor.

Overall this card is an absolute beauty, more than exceeding my expectations. Unlike the MSI Armor X, which was my second choice, this card has an all-important backplate - something that the very long GTX 1080 card really ought to have.

blistering

Chose this card at the last minute, I sure wasn't disappointed. Boosted to 1949 MHz out of the box with no fiddling, and thermal throttling only ever takes it down to 1900mhz with a standard fan profile. LED on the side is fairly bright but can be turned off or set to any colour, although it doesn't do orange very well for some reason. Great card, eats games for breakfast
