WHAT ARE P AND E CORES?

Introduced with 12th generation processors, Intel have enhanced the innovative hybrid CPU architecture for both 13th and 14th Gen Raptor Lake. Intel's latest architecture combines two types of cores, the Performance (P-core), and the Efficient cores (E-core).

• The P-core is engineered to excel in single-threaded, high-frequency tasks, bearing the primary workload burden. This core's design enables greatly enhanced frequency management while maximising performance capabilities.
• The E-core is designed to manage minor background tasks, distributing lighter workloads across numerous cores and threads, allowing for greater efficiency. Additionally, these cores are designed to reduce power consumption when performance cores are not required.

Intel Thread Director optimises the use of both core types, instead of your computer's operating system deciding which tasks go to which cores. This hardware feature takes the guesswork out of task assignment and leads to a noticeable improvement in both efficiency and performance.
