Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL: Mini-Tower with Spacious InteriorThe exterior of the Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL Mini-Tower, despite being relatively small, offers plenty of space on the inside, for example in terms of Micro-ATX motherboards and ATX power supplies. Without the HDD cage, graphics cards up to 420 mm in length can fit, with the cage the case comfortably fits GPUs up to 289 mm in length. Cable management is also a high priority, with the case providing 30 mm of space for tidy cabling. This is before we even mention the extensive support provided for water cooling options. Phanteks fittingly names this format the "Super Micro-ATX".
The slot for the power supply unit on the upper part of the case is insulated towards the side of the case panel to prevent it becoming hot to the touch. Fans up to 140 mm in size can be installed above and behind it, and Phanteks supplies the fan at the back as well. An additional 140 mm fan can even be fitted to the rear, alternatively they can be replaced by two 120 mm fans. Three 120 mm or two 140 mm fans can be attached to the top.
Lots of Space for DrivesPhanteks has also pre-installed two 140 mm fans at the front, which can of course be replaced by two smaller versions. On the floor of the case are situated mounting positions for three additional 120 mm- or 140 mm fans. To cool the numerous drives in the HDD cages, there are two additional places for 120 mm fans on each of them and on the side. For centralised fan control, Phanteks includes a PWM hub with six 3-pin slots, which in turn can be connected to the motherboard via a 4-pin connector. Power is supplied independently of the motherboard via a SATA connector. Of course, the fans can be replaced by compatible radiators, although this may require users to forfeit drive cages under certain circumstances. The radiator at the top must not be more than 206 mm deep, otherwise it may conflict with the motherboard.
At the top of the front of the case, there is a drive cage for three optical 5.25" drives. The two HDD cages below can accommodate a total of six 3.5" HDDs or optionally 2.5" drives. In addition, two additional 2.5" drives can be attached to the front of the support for the HDD cages. There is room for two more SSDs on the rear of the motherboard tray. If you can do without the lower optical drive, you can place a 3.5" drive in the ODD cage. Another can be attached to the back of the outside of the ODD cage.
Conversion to a Two Board SystemBoth the HDD cages as well as the ODD cage can be easily removed. This allows a graphics card up to 420 mm in length to be installed in the Enthoo Mini XL, with the cages, GPUs up to 289 mm in length are compatible. 215 mm of space is available for CPU coolers, more than sufficient for most out there. The filters on the lower section of the front and on the bottom help ensure the interior of your case remains clean and free of dust, all the better to keep your components looking good as you enjoy the view thanks to the windows.
With the Enthoo Mini XL ITX Upgrade Kit, the case can be upgraded to fit two Mini-ITX motherboards. The entire back is replaced to give users two PCI slots for an additional graphics card. The kit also includes an additional motherboard tray and an extra 5.25" I/O panel. At the bottom of the new back is located a slot for a second SFX-format power supply. If you only want to stay with one powerful ATX power supply, you can use the Phanteks Power Splitter to supply both motherboards.
