PHANTEKS stands for innovation, quality and recognisability. Recently the young company has focused on one area in particular: to create high-performance CPU coolers with special coatings and quality fans that run quietly without compromising on performance. The PHANTEKS product range has become populated by some truly bespoke and premium quality PC cases in recent years as well.
The PHANTEKS PH-TC12LS top-blower cooler doesn’t just impress with its diminutive dimensions, huge potential for cooling, it also has some unique aesthetics as well. The horizontal aluminium-finned heatsink comes in black and has six high-performance nickel-plated 6mm heatpipes running through it. These enable the heat from the copper baseplate to transfer into the radiator.
The ends of the copper pipes are equipped with black caps. Because PHANTEKS uses the renowned and sought after P.A.T.S (“Physical Anti-Oxidant Thermal Shield) nano-coating, the cooling performance of this small top-blower is markedly higher when compared to coolers of similar dimensions. This is because the nanoparticles on the aluminium fins ensure that heat from other components, such as graphics cards or RAM, is not conducted by the cooler and is reflected away instead.
Due to its compact dimensions, the PH-TC12LS is ideal for small HTPCs and Small-Form-Factor cases with limited space. Even with the fan and its illuminated Halos frame, the top-down blower cooler is under 8.1 cm in height. A high-quality PWM fan (PH-F120MP) is included and runs at between 500 and 1800 RPM producing just 25 dB(A) with a full 53 CFM max airflow.
The PH-TC12LS offers the expected advantages that typically come with the top-down design, especially the fact that the downwards-blowing air cools components located around the socket – especially the VRMs. Speaking of sockets: the black PHANTEKS cooler can be installed on all current AMD or Intel sockets and even includes a tube of thermal paste for use when installing the cooler.
The 18 RGB-LEDs that come integrated into the rear of the Halo fan frame add impressive lighting to the already remarkable and compact CPU cooler.
A diffusor ensures a bright and even style of lighting, allowing the lighting effects to look their very best in your case. The Halos LEDs can be controlled either via a compatible RGB controller or a compatible motherboard that offers the requisite 4-pin RGB header. Please check beforehand as to the compatibility with ASUS Aura Sync- and MSI Mystic Light Sync.
