PWM Fan Hub - Black

Part of the accessory range is the PWM fan hub offered here, which is already pre-mounted on the back of the mainboard with the Enthoo Primo, Luxe, Pro and Evolv Micro ATX enclosures. With this retail variant, which also comes with a chic black full cover, can now also be equipped with other brand-neutral cases. The Phanteks lettering on the front panel glows elegantly when the PC is switched on.

The performance of the PWM fan hub is as unique as it is ingenious: this allows up to eight 3-pin fans, such as PWM fans, to be controlled from compatible motherboards. To do this, connect the supplied 4-pin PWM cable to the motherboard connector and connect the SATA power cable to the power supply. Now, up to six 3-pin fans can be connected directly to the hub, two more are possible if you also use the two enclosed Y-splitters.

If the possibility of eight fans is still too little, the connection number can be extended to a maximum of eleven fans with the help of three additional Y cables. Phanteks also has the adapter cables individually. Only FAN port 1 may not be split due to the speed readout. The PWM fan hub is an extremely interesting extension for all enclosures in which many fans are to be controlled automatically.

To ensure that this is done properly even in brand-name cases, two self-adhesive velcro surfaces, which are attached to the hub or housing with the back, To connect both by Velcro. This allows the PWM hub to be flexibly fixed and can even be removed quickly. For installation in Phanteks housings (where such a hub is often already pre-installed), the manufacturer attaches two additional screws.

Note: If the 4-pin PWM cable of the hub is not powered by a PWM connector on the motherboard, the additional SATA power connector can not be a 4-pin or 3-pin port that is voltage-regulated or turn all fans at full speed. By omitting the SATA power connection to the power supply, the maximum load capacity of the PWM hub is limited to a total of 30 watts! Technical details: For installation in Phanteks housings (where such a hub is often already pre-installed), the manufacturer attaches two additional screws.

Simple but effective

Needed a basic fan controller for a pair of fans on a radiator, so the motherboard could control speeds. This does the job.

The housing is quite tiny. Secure in your case with supplied velcro, or apparently some Phanteks cases have a screw mounting point. I found a small cable tie worked.

Plug the supplied 4 pin lead from your motherboard header to the controller, and then the 3 pin leads from fans to the controller. Simples :).

Although you can use the supplied SATA power lead this may not work depending on the motherboard connector pin type (PWM or RPM voltage), and you'd find your fans spinning at full tilt. I'm powering two fans without the added power, apparently it can handle about 30W depending on the motherboard.

You may need to consider extension leads for your fans if they are some way from where you want to mount the controller. The 4 pin lead was about 30cm long.

It does have a blingy blue LED lighting a Phanteks logo, which I don't see that you can turn off.

Wish I found this sooner!

A couple of upgrades ago I lost voltage fan control on my motherboard, which meant fans running at full pelt. Always had it in my mine to buy some new PWM ones but just couldn't fork out cash to replace all my Notura ones.

So just put up with the extra fan noise, until now!

Seriously this little box is brilliant, not only does it simplify fan installation it means everything is running silent again. I'm really impressed and wish I found it years ago.



Fantastic bit of kit.

Having 7 fans in my system on full speed was getting a bit noisy and I wanted a way of controlling them. No space for a bay type fan controller meant I was going to have to use lots of Y splitters until I saw this.

It's tiny. Smaller than a credit card and lights up. Powers from a SATA connector and takes the PWM value from a motherboard header meaning no need for extra software (I use the ASUS motherboard software to control speeds)

System is now much quieter and will simply ramp up if the CPU gets too warm, happy days.
