WORST KEYBOARD EVER

I brought one of these bout 2 weeks back on amazon, and i have to say its ok but for the money its not what i expected.
The keys were very stiff and didnt react properly, and after about 5 minutes or so the keyboard just locks up until being unplugged and plugged back in again.
Everything else about the product is sound its just the locking up issuse which was apparently resolved but its not.

Poor quality control

I have now had 2 of these, bought one, got other as replacement for the 1st which was giving me the Fandango dancing lights, (a well documented issue Razer were aware of). I was happy to get the sexy Mirror version and, no Fandango dancing lights, but,.. just recently some of the keys have randomly stopped working, only coming alive after reinserting the USB cable into my PC - very inconvenient. Told them about it, they're aware of the problem but are unwilling to replace the replacement keyboard. Someone in their quality control department needs sacking. An otherwise great keyboard severely let down by s****y design. I'm not impressed and will not be buying any more Razer products again, period. I wonder if Logitech can do a better job of it? Here's hoping! Goodbye Razer! Hello Logitech!

Fantastic

Had this board now for about a month, this is way better than my old Microsoft board. The response time is fantastic, gaming is now played the way it should be, fast and accurate.

Yet another fantastic service from OCuk.

Almost brilliant

Lovely soft rubber coated keys which look amazing in a darkened room. Few downsides - the WSAD only lights are the sort of brightness that you really need for all the keys during the day but you can't set this. The caps lock/num lock lights are way too bright and are always in your peripheral vision and are annoying. Mine suffered from the touchpad issues that were supposed to have been fixed following a product recall, whereby they start playing winamp of their own accord and then jump around playlists randomly. After practically having to twist their arms to make them care, Razer support finally agreed to swap it, just as it seemed to settle down and stop doing it after about 2 weeks. This is almost brilliant. It is nice to type on but i with hindsight you might prefer something like the Cyborg V5. It's a lot of money to pay for a keyboard that isn't quite right. If they do a V2 and fix these niggles it'll be excellent. A simple brightness control for the backlight would b!
e a start.

Perfect.

Keyboard does exactly what it says on the tin. When first plugged in there was a problem with the backlighting as stated by others below but it was only a matter of opening configuration and turning them off and on again. (As ever, with technology.)

Now works perfectly. Comefotable, quiet and responsive. Could not ask for more.

Awesome

Great keyboard. its stylish and does what it says on the box. As all Razer products it comes with lovely packaging and little bits and bobs. the illuminated keys are great and turning them off for a the sheer hell of watching yopur mates jaws drop when u turn them on is a big WIN!! the maco system is fairly simple to use but if u a novice could be tricky... but thats why we love google :D

only complaint i have, which i gave this product only a 4* rating is the keys dont light up bright enough and it would be nice if you could customise the lighting system to fit in with the profiles.. WSAD are all good but customising things to the individuals needs is the future.. i think is Razer release a 2.0 of the Lycosa with these enhanced featurs i will be first one in line!

Great!

This keyboard is spot on, the keys feel really rubbery but smooth with a great finish, the backlight is spot on, regardless of what other reviewers have said (in my opinion) I can confirm that it is very clear and that you can read the keys with the light on or off, the shiny plastic finish is a nice touch, and the wrist rest is smooth and very comfy, cable is quite bulky but what can you expect with 2 jacks and 2 USB's, I have both USB's connected to my tower but dont bother with the jacks as i've got my headset plugged directly into my sound card, simple plastic cable tie keeps things tidy, I use the USB port on the keyboard for my control pad :) the touch pad in the top right of the keyboard is a nice little feature, it takes a little more than an average "ipone" like tap to respond but its not so bad that you have to prod the screen, fairly balanced :) I only play games using WASD to be honest so I can't comment on the multiple key response situation, overall though its !
great! 5/5

Few issues

It's a good keyboard overall, but not worth the money because of a few issues it has.

First the backlight isn't strong enough and IMO it's the wrong colour. It's hard to read the keys both in darkness and in a well lit room.

The other problem is for a gaming keyboard, it can't cope with lots of simultaneous key presses. Anti-ghosting on the WASD cluster, great, but games use lots of other keys. Playing Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light I had some issues with needing 4 keys (using default controls) and the keyboard couldn't do it. Same thing with Doom 2 using ZDoom.

Final issue - touch sensitive buttons (the media panel) are awful to use.

Most of the time I'm happy with the keyboard, but for the price it should be better.

ok but few errors

ive had this for near 2 years now, it is a nice keybourd, and the lights make it easy to use at night or in the dark, easy to set up and worked fine on vista and win7, only prob is, the rubber keys wear out and if you game loads like me over 5 hours a day, wasd will show sings of wear, also if you nerd rage alot do not hit this, the lites will stay on or not be able to change ;p a bad day in battlefield 2 proved this, saying that i will never get rid of it as its so nice to type with and play with :)

ouch

i dont know why everyone is so hyped up over this, ive had it for 3 months or so from having a cyborg eclipse 2. the keyboard is a little low quality plastic and with no extra functions of any real value as a programmer and heavy gamer (all genres) i cant say this is worth anything near the price! for

epic keyborad

great keyboard however the lighter are not good there is no backlighting between the keys and the lights they have are not that bright other then that best keyborad you can buy would be 5stars if it had better lights more like the ones on the saitek eclipse

chris parnell 2009-07-17
